A més, proposa una definició concreta del gènere basada en la teoria escrita sobre el morning show i els programes referents dins del panorama anglosaxó actual. Este estudio de caso define y compara los programas matinales de las radios musicales de la BBC con la Castellà: intención de describir la concepción del género breakfast o morning show que tiene la corporación de radiodifusión pública del Reino Unido. Además, proposa una definició concreta del gènere basada en la teoria escrita sobre el morning show y los programas referentes dentro del panorama anglosajón actual. This case study defines and compares the morning programmes of BBC’s musical radios in order to describe Anglès: the United Kingdom’s public broadcasting corporation conception of the genre breakfast or morning show. Furthermore, it proposes a specific definition of the genre based on the written theory of the morning show and the referent programmes within the current English outlook. Introducció 1.1 Justificació Els morning shows són un dels gèneres radiofònics més escoltats del món. El matí és la franja horària de més audiència en ràdio i habitualment aquests programes matinals estan dirigits a un públic que es desplaça de casa a la feina i, en molts casos, també l’acompanya durant la primera part de la seva jornada laboral. No obstant això, fent una recerca de literatura podem comprovar que hi ha molt poca teoria i estudis sobre el tema, fet que resulta curiós, vista la popularitat del gènere. La justificació a aquesta incongruència podria raure en el fet que, tot i que a simple vista pot semblar que el morning show és un gènere concret i del qual en tenim una concepció clara, avui en dia cada país presenta una oferta molt variada d’aquest tipus de programa. De fet, aquestes diferències entre regions no són ni tan sols una qüestió cultural, ja que dins de cada estat, fins i tot cada grup de comunicació i cada emissora ofereix productes força distints sota el nom de morning o breakfast show. Tantes desavinences fan palès que aquest gènere no té unes característiques clares i concises que permetin extreure’n una definició evident i única. Avui dia, el Regne Unit és un dels pocs països que té un grup de comunicació públic que compta amb diverses emissores musicals que, al mateix temps, ofereixen morning shows diferents a una mateixa societat: la BBC, la qual, a més, és un referent pel conjunt dels mitjans de comunicació d’arreu del món. Ara bé, pràcticament no hi ha estudis realitzats sobre els matinals de les ràdios musicals de la BBC i encara menys d’actualitzats que incloguin l’ús que fan de les xarxes socials aquests programes. És per això que aquesta anàlisi vol mostrar i contrastar les opcions radiofòniques públiques i musicals que té la ciutadania d’aquest país: quina música i quins continguts els acompanyen cada matí de camí a la feina, quin format tenen aquests programes, fins a quin punt donen importància a la informació, si s’ofereix la possibilitat a l’audiència de ser partícip d’aquests morning shows, tant a l’antena com a les xarxes socials, i les estratègies transmèdia d’aquestes emissores. D’altra banda, en l’estudi de tots aquests aspectes es tindrà en compte si la BBC compleix amb la missió de servei

    ON SCREEN AND ON AIR TALENT AN ASSESSMENT OF THE BBC’S APPROACH AND IMPACT A REPORT FOR THE BBC TRUST APPENDIX II – TALENT TRACKING BY OLIVER & OHLBAUM ASSOCIATES APRIL 2008 1 APPENDIX II – TALENT TRACKING The objective was to find how the sources of the various network broadcasters’ talent differ, by genre and in some cases over time. Presenter loyalty to broadcasters would also be shown as a result of the ‘talent tracking’. A BARB database consisting of every strand aired on BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, C4 and Five in 2007 was used to select the relevant strands. Strands with less than 300 annual broadcast hours were not considered for analysis. Strands were chosen from genres that have a strong dependence on the quality and audience appeal of their presenter or lead performer. Hence the genres chosen were: • Entertainment, consisting of sub genres ‘Chat Shows’, ‘Quiz/Game Shows’, ‘Family Shows’ and ‘Panel Shows’ • Factual Documentary, consisting of sub genres ‘History’, ‘Human Interest’, ‘Natural History’, ‘Science/ Medical’ • Lifestyle, consisting of sub genres ‘Cooking’, ‘DIY’ and ‘Homes’ • Comedy, consisting of sub genres ‘Situation Comedy’ and ‘Other Comedy’ The talent analysis would then be taken form these selected strands. In the cases where talent appeared for the same channel on more than one strand, the talent was still only considered once for tracking analysis. If talent appeared on more than one channel, then their tracking would appear in all relevant channel profiles. Various different web-based sources were used to best map out the talent’s career. www.wikipedia.org and www.tv.com have career résumés on most of the selected talent; for a deeper and more comprehensive analysis, www.imdb.com and www.spotlight.com were used as reliable programme and talent databases.
