25 Everything Hockey

Delisle Minor Hockey Association

Delisle Minor Hockey Association (DMHA) believes in promoting and encouraging children to learn the value of fair play through the sport of hockey. DMHA provides the hockey experience for children aged 4 to 17.

We currently offer a first year Initiation introductory fee of $150. This gives young children a chance to try the game of hockey and experience that hockey is about having fun, building friendships and learning lessons about confidence, fair play, good sportsmanship and teamwork.

Our U9 (formerly Novice) and U11 (formerly

Atom) teams will play in the Sask. Valley Hockey League for the 2020/2021 season.U13 (formerly Peewee), U15 (formerly Bantam) and U18 (formerly Midget) teams play in the Saskatoon Minor hockey league. DMHA has seen tremendous growth in our female program with teams being offered in U9, U11 & U13 age divisions.

Hockey season will begin in October Generally, we take a 2 week break that follows the school Christmas break, with the season wrapping up by the end of March.

DMHA also participates in Cameco’s Hockey Weekend which is the third weekend in January. This is a great way to celebrate Hockey Day in Saskatchewan as each DMHA team is encouraged to plan a home game on this day. Cameco’s Hockey Weekend has a great motto; “ Where the rink is the heart of the community, and hockey is the heart of the rink”

DMHA holds registration in May and is completed by May 31st each year. Exceptions can be looked at for new arrivals to town. For more information please contact us via email

The Delisle Pride ball club was founded in 2015 with the goal of forming a team that would compete with the best in the country. Our team is currently made up of players from Delisle, Warman, Langham, Maymont, Vanscoy, Prince Albert, Shellbrook and Canwood. We will once again be playing in the Saskatoon Amateur Softball Association’s (SASA) top division (Keith McLean Division), the league starts June 6th, our schedule is available at sasasoftball.ca/games. We’d love to see you at the ballpark, especially on the nights we take on the veteran Delisle Diamond Dogs.

Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, nationals have been cancelled for the 2nd season in a row. Our Provincial Champion- ships are scheduled for August 13th to 15th in Saskatoon and Softball Canada is planning the Rawlings Grand Slam of Softball Championship in Saskatoon September 2nd to 5th, there will be a Men’s & Women’s division as well as a U23 Division.

In our short history we’ve had a fair amount of success, but we still haven’t reached the ultimate prize. We won Provin- cial gold medals in 2016, 2017 & 2019 as well as Canadian National Championship sliver medals in 2016 & 2019. Our goal is still to win a national title and we’re hopeful we will be able to take another run at it again in 2022 & 2023.

Our team has strived to represent the town of Delisle & district with class & respect, while showing the rural work ethic they’ve all grown up with. The Pride are very proud of where we come from and want to thank all the business in the district as well as the community members that have supported as and continue to support us in our search for a national title.

Leisure,Fitness Sports & Bowbusters Archery Club

Bowbusters Archery Club was started in 2011 in Vanscoy, and currently has over 80 members.

The Junior Olympic Program for kids ages 6-21 starts the beginning of November and goes to the end of March. In this program the kids shoot at distances which range from 10,15 and 20 meters. They have to shoot a specific score at each distance and when that score is obtained they receive badges.

We get invited to 2 tournaments a year of which one is in Saskatoon at the Wildlife federation and the other one is at Viscount. This gives the kids the opportunity to experience shooting with different kids at different facilities.

The indoor range is open year round to our members and the outdoor range is open from May to the end of September. We host 2 indoor 3D shoots, one in May and the Gib Hendersen Memorial in August.

We will also shoot mail match once a week for 12 weeks from January until the end of March at Bowbuster’s and Thunderhead’s clubs. This is open to everyone who has a club membership and a Sask archery number.

Come check us out on Facebook, where we post our updates on shoots, tournaments and our Annual General Meeting in September.
