Former junior world champion claims two senior world titles

· Artem Okulov (RUS) won both the Clean and Jerk and the Total after having claimed silver in the Snatch, collecting the first gold medal for Russia at Houston 2015. · 21-year-old Okulov (RUS) is now on a total of seven world championship career medals (G2-S2-B3). Only Andrei Rybakou (BLR) has won more (10) in this weight category (G9-B1). · Okulov (RUS) was already a 6-time Junior world champion in this event, having won all three medals in the 85kg junior event in both 2013 and 2014 · All three medal winners in today's men's 85kg Total event have now won Total world titles at both the junior and the senior world championships in this event. · Silver medallists Kianoush (IRI) failed to win a gold medal for the first time, having claimed gold in both the Total and the Clean and Jerk competition in both 2011 and 2014. · Reigning champion (CHN) won the men's 85kg Snatch event to become only the second Chinese male to win a (gold) medal in this Snatch event after Lu Yong, who won the 85kg Snatch (and Total) world title in 2009. · Tian's victory in the Snatch marked the 25th world title for in the men's 85kg event, equaling Belarus. Only Russia (47) and Australia (28) have won more gold medals in this weight category. · Despite winning the Snatch world title, Tian failed to set a mark in the Clean and Jerk competition today. · Apti Aukhadov (RUS) claimed bronze in both the Total and the Clean and Jerk, adding to his three world championship medals from 2013, when he won both the Total and the Clean and Jerks event and finished third in the Snatch competition.
