On Sadomasochism: Taxonomies and Language
Nicole Eitmann On Sadomasochism: Taxonomies and Language Governments try to regulate sadomasochistic activities (S/M). Curiously, though, no common definition of S/M exists and there is a dearth of statistically valid social science research on who engages in S/M or how participants define the practice. This makes it hard to answer even the most basic questions shaping state laws and policies with respect to S/M. This paper begins to develop a richer definition of sadomasochistic activities based on the reported common practices of those engaging in S/M. The larger question it asks, though, is why so little effort has been made by social scientists in general and sex researchers in particular to understand the practice and those who participate in it. As many social sci- entists correctly observe, sadomasochism has its “basis in the culture of the larger society.”1 Rethinking sadomasochism in this way may shed some light on the present age. A DEFINITIONAL QUAGMIRE In Montana, sadomasochistic abuse includes the depiction of a per- son clad in undergarments or in a revealing or bizarre costume.2 In Illinois, it is illegal to distribute or sell obscene material—defined in part as “sado- masochistic sexual acts, whether normal or perverted, actual or simu- lated.”3 The lack of a clear definition of what constitutes S/M is one major difficulty in developing appropriate policies with respect to S/M activities. Clearly, S/M means different things to different people, and there is a wide range of possible S/M activities—from light spanking or -

The Politics of Fantasy
Kohl: a Journal for Body and Gender Research Vol. 3, No. 2 (Winter 2017) The Politics of Fantasy Jaya Sharma The Politics of Fantasy Fantasies that don’t sit so well with our politics, and yet here they are. Might this uncomfortable place 139 where our fantasies and our politics seem to collide also be a productive one, precisely because it is uncomfortable. This is the question I would like to explore here. I write as a queer, kinky, feminist activist from within the women’s movement in India. It is perhaps because of this location that I feel I am able to be part of the tradition of women’s movement, at least here in India, and to be self-critical, often to the point of being overly critical of ourselves. The way I am using the word fantasy is in terms of an expression or enactment of desire. And while we are all familiar with the concept of desire in its most overt form of sexual fantasies or imagined sexual scenarios, I believe that desire, and by implication, fantasy, also underpin our relation to reality in virtually every other domain of life – from relationships to career choices, from ideology to politics. I would like to begin with sexual fantasies and later move to fantasy as a dimension of other aspects of life. A feminist friend whom I interviewed for a piece I was writing on porn told me about her porn-watching experience one night. The porn that she found herself looking for was very specific. It was about incest involving daughter and parents. -

Slut Life Ideas Disclaimer: This are just some ideas addressed to the maker of the Slut Life Cyoa. He decides whether to add them to it or not. He may edit them the way he want, my descriptions are probably to long anyway. As I am not a native Speaker (Still decent hopefully) I apologize if my English is not 100% perfect. I would appreciate some feedback, criticism and correction (If I understood something wrong) I may post an updated list in the futur Fixes (Trying to balance the Prices): -Shared Amenities are purchased not as a whole, but for 2 Points each -Fresh Food option should cost less, or have higher budged (compared to Personal Chef) Maybe the update could be unlimited food -Nude option gives points (about 5) otherwise its kind of pointless -Personal Stylist is kind of expensive to me, 10 Points seems more appropriate -Massage chair option seems extremely overpriced, I would suggest a price at around 5-10 Points -Isolation tank is also pretty pricey for just one hour use (May just not my thing though) -Point difference between Tyrone and Everybody options is really big (If Tyrone involves you being the Prisons Cum dumpster) -Arm binder gives way to less, keeping in mind that you would not be able to use most of the entertainment and would struggle with basic everyday tasks 20 points seems better to me -Bitch suit is the least balanced option in my opinion, Limiting all movement and use of pretty much everything (cant even eat with fresh food chosen) Sleep in Bondage with upgrades gives 3 more points and is limited to the time sleeping. -

Bdsm, Kink, and Consent: What the Law Can Learn from Consent-Driven Communities
BDSM, KINK, AND CONSENT: WHAT THE LAW CAN LEARN FROM CONSENT-DRIVEN COMMUNITIES Mika Galilee-Belfer* Millions of Americans participate in consensual, mutually agreed-upon activities such as bondage, dominance, and submission—collectively referred to as BDSM or kink—yet the relationship between individual consent to such participation and consent as legally understood and defined is imperfect at best. Because the law has not proven adept at adjudicating disputes that arise in BDSM situations, communities that practice BDSM have adopted self-policing mechanisms (formal and informal) aimed at replicating and even advancing the goals and protections of conventional law enforcement. This self-policing is particularly important because many jurisdictions hold there can be no consent to the kind of experiences often associated with BDSM; this is true in practice irrespective of the existence of statutory language regarding consent. In this Note, I compare legal communities and BDSM communities across three variables: how consent is defined, how violations are comparably adjudicated, and the types of remedies available by domain. In the process, I examine what norm-setting and rule adjudication look like when alternative communities choose to define, and then operate within, norms and controls that must be extra-legal by both necessity and design. The “Jūdō Sukebei”
ISSN 2029-8587 PROBLEMS OF PSYCHOLOGY IN THE 21st CENTURY Vol. 9, No. 2, 2015 85 THE “JŪDŌ SUKEBEI” PHENOMENON: WHEN CROSSING THE LINE MERITS MORE THAN SHIDŌ [MINOR INFRINGEMENT] ― SEXUAL HARASSMENT AND INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR IN JŪDŌ COACHES AND INSTRUCTORS Carl De Crée University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, Rome, Italy Ghent University, Ghent, Belgium International Association of Judo Researchers, United Kingdom E-mail: [email protected] Abstract The sport of jūdō was intended as an activity “for all”. Since in 1996 a major sex abuse scandal broke out that involved a Dutch top jūdō coach and several female elite athletes, international media have identified many more abuses. To date no scholarly studies exist that have examined the nature, extent, and consequences of these anomalies. We intend in this paper to review and analyze sexual abuses in jūdō. To do so we offer a descriptive jurisprudence overview of relevant court and disciplinary cases, followed by a qualitative-analytical approach looking at the potential factors that prompt jūdō-related bullying and sexual harassment. Sex offenders may be attracted to jūdō because of: 1. the extensive bodily contact during grappling, 2. the easy access to voyeuristic opportunities during contest weigh-ins and showering, 3. Jūdō’s authoritarian and hierarchical structure as basis for ‘grooming’, 4. lack of integration of jūdō’s core moral component in contemporary jūdō coach and instructor education, and 5. its increasing eroti- cization by elite jūdō athletes posing for nude calendars and media and by specialized pornographic jūdō manga and movies. Cultural conceptions and jurisprudence are factors that affect how people perceive the seriousness and how these offences are dealt with. -

Liberation Through Domination: BDSM Culture and Submissive-Role Women Abstract The alternative sexual practices of bondage and discipline, dominance and submission, and sadism and masochism (BDSM) are practiced by people all over the world. In this paper, I will examine the experiences of five submissive-role women in the Netherlands and five in south-central Pennsylvania, focusing specifically on how their involvement with the BDSM community and BDSM culture influences their self-perspective.I will begin my analysis by exploring anthropological perspectives of BDSM and their usefulness in studying sexual counterculture, followed by a consideration of feminist critiques of BDSM and societal barriers faced by women in the community. -
