Artform areas are strongly encouraged in Dance and Design. We will then liaise with the relevant mentor / organisation(s) to try and match up your request with available opportunities. Any previous correspondence between you and your nominated mentor / organisation will be an advantage but not essential.

Host Organisation: Gold Coast Film Festival Project/Event name: 2021 Gold Coast Film Festival Brief project / organisation / event description: The GCFF brings diverse Australian and International , filmmakers and screen events to the Gold Coast, enhancing the city’s cultural reputation, driving tourism and delivering economic impact to the region. The GCFF entertained an audience of over 19,000 in 2019 with over 25% originating from outside of the Gold Coast. The GCFF reinforces our city’s position as one of ’s leading destinations, by promoting emerging Australian filmmakers and creating educational and professional development opportunities for screen industry practitioners. Year-round, GCFF supports the local screen industry and delivers Australian screen culture through events, screenings and Q&As. The GCFF is one of Australia’s leading festivals in championing gender equality in the screen industry, establishing the first film festival childcare offering in Australia in 2016. The 2021 Gold Coast Film Festival will run 14-25 April, 2021 across 10 Gold Coast venues and online.

Scope of role: The Event Producer – Industry + Digital will work closely with GCFF’s Industry Manager and Event Producer to coordinate the delivery of the online elements of the Gold Coast Film Festival’s 2021 hybrid program. The role will be responsible for the coordination of livestreamed events and panels, digital attendance of film industry speakers from across Australia and online ticketed film screenings. Key duties:

 This is a high coordination role that will give the participant hands-on experience at producing in- person and online events for a cultural festival  Work with Industry Manager to coordinate the live-stream of industry discussion panels and pitch meetings and the digital attendance of industry guests via video  Work with Event Manager to coordinate the live-streamed Screen Industry Gala Awards evening  Work with Program Manager and Festival Coordinator to coordinate the Festival’s online ticketed film screenings  Coordination of speaker names and captions, bios, tech requirements, and digital attendance for all digital industry events  The role is fast paced and will be involved in a number of exciting, one-of-a-kind events at the Gold Coast Film Festival

Reporting to: Festival Director Aimée Lindorff and, Festival Coordinator Isabella Schoonenberg Attachment period: Up to 33 days between week commencing February 8th 2021 and week commencing April 26th 2021. Host Organisation: Somerset Storyfest

Project/event name: Storyfest Key Events 2021

Brief project / organisation / event description:

The Somerset Celebration of Literature came into being due to the vision and determination of five prominent Gold Coasters who were associated with Somerset College in the early 1990s.

The inaugural Somerset Celebration of Literature took place in March 1994, and was attended by 31 authors and approximately 3000 students from 50 schools. Since then, the Somerset Celebration of Literature has grown significantly, gaining recognition as a major festival on Australia’s literary calendar.

It features a three-day writers’ festival, literary social events as well as the widely lauded Somerset National Novella Writing Competition for school-aged writers. The festival continues to attract large audiences with its offering of author sessions, workshops and seminars as well as meet-the-author events and the highlight literary dinner with a notable guest speaker.

Attachment role: Events Producer

Scope of role: To manage, produce and oversee a variety of events during Storyfest’s cornerstone event – Somerset Writers Festival.

Namely: Project 1 – Australian Children’s Laureate Summit Tuesday 16 March – Pool Function Room – Somerset College

Duties: Liaise with partnering organisation, communicate with Summit delegates, liaise with and coordinate catering and logistics and AV (tech crew), prepare marketing campaign, monitor budget. Oversee bump in/bump out. Liaise with Sponsors and VIPs. Prepare Run Sheet.

Namely: Project 2 – Parents’ and Friends’ Prologue Party Wednesday 17 March – Towers Quad – Somerset College

Duties: Liaise with partnering organisation, book external contractors, liaise with and coordinate catering and logistics, prepare marketing campaign, monitor budget.

Host Organisation: Gold Coast Music Awards

Project/event name: 2021 Gold Coast Music Awards

Brief project / organisation / event description: The Gold Coast Music Awards were launched in 2015 to recognise and celebrate the Gold Coast music industry and provide a platform to promote the depth and diversity of musical talent in the City. Since inception the event has sold out every year and 2020 saw the event shifted to a digital format with 29,000 views and named a national finalist in the Australian Event Awards.

Working in partnership with Surfers Paradise LIVE festival for the past 3 years has seen the event close the main street of Surfers Paradise, build a huge festival-sized stage at the end of Cavill Mall and celebrate the success of Gold Coast musicians with a ticketed awards ceremony in a marquee on the beach as well as a mini-festival of the city’s best talent. 11,000 people attended in 2017, the year that Amy Shark head-lined and other years saw 5-8,000 people come along for the free live music.

The 2021 Gold Coast Music Awards will see changes made to the date, location and format of the event as the awards begin working with the newly formed, Major Events Gold Coast, as the awards presenting partner.

As well as this major event, Gold Coast Music Awards also delivers sector development activities. Running training events and providing resources and support to the city’s growing music community. One of eight organisations to receive Triennial Funding from City of Gold Coast, the organisation is seen as an independent voice representing and promoting the local music sector.

Senior Mentor: Chloe Popa, Creative Director Attachment role: Event Producer

Scope of role:

This is a hands-on event production role that will give the participant a wide range of experience in assisting with the planning and delivery of the 2021 Gold Coast Music Awards, as well as other industry events produced by the Gold Coast Music Awards team, such as music industry networking and training events.

While the successful participant will work across a number of projects and with different members of the Gold Coast Music Awards team, the scope of their role is likely to include the following:

Key Duties:  Create and maintain basic event timeline and action plan  Liaise with event venue and production team  Liaise with event presenters, speakers and artists  Prepare draft run sheets  Assist with preparation and dissemination of event media and promotional material  Track and manage event RSVP’s  Assist with onsite event setup  Responsible for specific onsite tasks depending on availability, events and overall requirements  Assist with collation of event data for post event reporting and evaluation  Other tasks as required and where possible, in-line with participants specific areas of interest

Event date: 3 September 2021 (TBC) Location: The position will be sometimes working from home during the pre-festival period and at event sites in Surfers Paradise during the festival period and any surrounding industry events.

Host Organisation: Mo’s Desert Clubhouse PTY LTD

Project/Event name: Desert TV

Brief project / organisation / event description: Mo’s Desert Clubhouse is a multi-functional creative warehouse and venue. The Burleigh Heads space is owned and operated by artists, with the purpose of offering a Sizzler-sized smorgasbord of opportunities for creative endeavours. Offering rehearsal studios, thrift shop, private studios, co-working office, vodcast studio and a 250 capacity licensed bar and performance space. Fully equipped with a new stage, full production, lighting and now a live streaming set up. Mo’s caters for music, art and creative events, operating in a Creative Industry zone, essentially if your event has a creative element, Mo’s is your space. This sees everything from Burlesque to metal to art exhibitions in one weekend. Mo’s Desert Clubhouse was named so to embrace the creative industry, clubhouse ensuring that everyone who walks through the warehouse doors feels welcome and included. This is a key ethos of the space. A technical production role in film, audio and live streaming: 2020 saw the creation of Desert TV, an online live streaming music channel that focuses on creative content, music and art. Desert TV is streamed via YouTube on a regular basis (often weekly) and its main focus is in streaming full live sets in professional audio and visual from the venue. The venue is now fully equipped with all the equipment needed to do this in a professional manner. Desert TV is streamed and produced from the vodcast studio, a space where individuals can hire and record their own works with the assistance of Mo’s production crew. The role will see individuals working alongside professional film and audio technicians working on content creation, recording and streaming live and pre-recorded content. The role will take place within Mo's Desert Clubhouse assisting live streams of music, arts and performance along with assisting the production of podcast and vodcasts. The role will focus on the production and technical side of online content creation and streaming services.

Senior Mentor: Christian Tryhorn, Director of Mo’s Desert Clubhouse and Audio Technician Attachment role: Technical Production Associate

Scope of role: The Technical Production Associate will be a part of the working technical team that put together the online, digital and production elements of Desert TV and the associated vodcast studio. Elements of audio production and setup, film and video production and setup, live stream content capture and broadcast will be included in the position. Key Duties: The applicant will assist the team in

 Setting up the livestream capture environment from scratch, positioning cameras, lighting and audio elements (stands, microphones etc) under the instruction of the Audio engineer and Video Content Manager.  Working with the AV managers to assist the working artist’s experience within the venue along with livestream preparation and performance as required.  Working closely with the Video Content Manager to make sure cameras are focused and operational throughout the livestream capture process with potential moving camera operation as required.  Working closely with the Audio Technician to make sure microphones are correctly positioned and operational prior to and during performance, working under instruction where required throughout the setup performance.  Patching of leads into the various DI’s and interfaces where required.  Moving and setup of lighting and camera equipment in the upstairs podcast room for band interview capture prior to the livestream set.

 Operating basic light and stage effect functions through the Lightshark interface during the performance under the instruction of the Audio Technician.  Potential help with live audience sound technician work as the role develops.  Potential bouncing of final products leading into production editing as the role develops.  Possible post-production editing help if an interest is shown.
