They are believed to have constructed the present house. The estate was taken over by the renowned horse trainer, Peter Purcell Gilpin, who established a stud at Dollanstown to run in conjunction with his stud at Newmarket. He sent out many notable winners, including two Derby winners and the mare, Pretty Polly, winner of 22 races. In 1939, following the death of Mr Gilpin, his widow leased Dollanstown to Mr J A Dewar, nephew of Lord Dewar, with an option to purchase the estate upon her death. Mrs Gilpin died in 1948 and Dewar availed of the option, subsequently adding a further 76 acres. Mr Jack Olding purchased the estate in 1954, following Mr Dewar’s death and after two years, sold it to Dr and Mme Plesch who added a further 100 acres to the estate to comprise a total of about 500 acres. Dr Plesch was a Doctor of Law, entrepreneur and horticulturalist, while his Austrian-born wife had a life-long affinity with horses. A total of 38 mares, fillies and yearlings were quickly acquired at public auction and privately to increase the broodmare band at Dollanstown. The couple bred many notable winners at Dollanstown, including the Derby winner from 1961, Psidium. Arguably the greatest horse owned by Dr and Mme Plesch was Sassafras, whose career highlight was success in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. The death of Dr Plesch in 1974 led to a dispersal sale in 1975. The estate had a number of Irish owners before it was purchased by the present owners in 1982. The adjoining farm at Ferrestown was purchased in 1992. The present owners created a International-standard event course. • Social Housing Construction Projects Status Report Q4 2019
Social Housing Construction Projects Status Report Q4 2019 May 2020 Rebuilding Ireland - Action Plan for Housing and Homelessness Quarter 4 of 2019: Social Housing Construction Status Report Rebuilding Ireland: Social Housing Targets Under Rebuilding Ireland, the Government has committed more than €6 billion to support the accelerated delivery of over 138,000 additional social housing homes to be delivered by end 2021. This will include 83,760 HAP homes, 3,800 RAS homes and over 50,000 new homes, broken down as follows: Build: 33,617; Acquisition: 6,830; Leasing: 10,036. It should be noted that, in the context of the review of Rebuilding Ireland and the refocussing of the social housing delivery programme to direct build, the number of newly constructed and built homes to be delivered by 2021 has increased significantly with overall delivery increasing from 47,000 new homes to over 50,000. This has also resulted in the rebalancing of delivery under the construction programme from 26,000 to 33,617 with acquisition targets moving from 11,000 to 6,830. It is positive to see in the latest Construction Status Report that 6,704 social homes are currently onsite. The delivery of these homes along with the additional 7,813 homes in the pipeline will substantially aid the continued reduction in the number of households on social housing waiting lists. These numbers continue to decline with a 5% reduction of households on the waiting lists between 2018 and 2019 and a 25% reduction since 2016. This progress has been possible due to the strong delivery under Rebuilding Ireland with over 100,000 (100,124) households supported to the end of Q4 2019 since Rebuilding Ireland in 2016.

Kildare Licence Number: 18E0515 ABSTRACT Irish Archaeological Consultancy Ltd has prepared this report on behalf of Kildare County Council, to study the impact, if any, on the archaeological and historical resource of the proposed redevelopment of the Naas Town Hall, which is located on Main Street, Naas, Co. Kildare (ITM 689221/719481). The testing was undertaken by David Bayley and Muireann Ní Cheallacháin of IAC Ltd under licence 18E0515. The proposed development area is located in the townland of Naas West, parish of Naas, and barony of Naas North. The eastern boundary of the site is on the townland boundary with Naas East, Main Street North. The proposed development area is within the zone of potential for the historic town of Naas (RMP KD019-030). The proposed development area contains the site of a recorded monument, the site of White Castle (KD019-030018). The existing town hall, which was formerly a gaol, is also listed within the Record of Protected Structures for Kildare (RPS NS 19-047) and the NIAH building survey (NIAH 11814041). Four site investigation test pits were excavated in the rear yard during June 2018, which were archaeologically monitored. One test trench and one test pit were excavated within the rear yard in October 2018. The works confirmed the presence of an overburden layer within the yard area and identified the footing of a stone and mortar wall to the immediate west of the town hall structure.
