Eagles hosting Cowboys The Chadron State College football team hopes to keep its Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and postseason playoff hopes alive Saturday when it hosts New Mexico Highlands at Elliott Field. Kickoff will be at noon. The Eagles are 5-2 for the season and 4-1 in the conference. Colorado State- Pueblo leads the RMAC at 5-0 and has a 7-0 seasonal mark. It’s anticipated that CSC will have to win its remaining four conference games to have a chance to reach the playoffs. Even if they accomplish that, the Eagle’s will need a team to upset Pueblo to grab a shore of the RMAC title. The Highlands Cowboys are 1-4 in the RMAC and 2-5 for the season, but have lost each of their last three games by less than a touchdown. The Cowboys opened the season with a 31-389 win over Eastern New Mexico but Abilene Christian beat them 52-28 the next week. Highlands then opened its conference schedule with a 31-20 win over Fort Lewis, but after that the Cowboys are winless. 1 2013 Chadron State Football | Twitter: @csceagles | Facebook: /csceagles | #rmacfb | #RingTheBell Chadron State Sports Information | www.chadroneagles.com | 308-432-6212 | [email protected] Eagles own a potent offense The Chadron State offense ranks among the nation’s best and a CHADRON STATE COLLEGE QUICK FACTS big reason for that is the solid play of its offensive line - the Eagles City/Zip ................................................................Chadron, NE 69337 have only allowed seven sacks - and the stellar production of its Founded/Enrollment ......................................................1911/2,800 playmakers at receiver. Marsh, multimedia major, accepted an internship with CBS on his graduation day last May. A month later, he moved to New York City and has been working his way up the corporate ladder for CBS Sports ever since. A month into his internship, Marsh’s skills were recognized by his boss Mike Bird, CBS Sports graphics manager. Bird then pre- sented Marsh with his first big assignment. He asked Marsh to redesign the player profiles for the NFL broadcasts. Marsh put together a design and worked on the animation with some co-workers from the Font Compose Lab. Bird was thoroughly impressed with Marsh’s design and decided to take it to the executive meeting for approval. CBS Sports Executive Vice-President Ken Agard also liked the design and cleared it to air for the preseason on local CBS affiliates in the seven main cities that were covered in the preseason. One month into his internship and Marsh had his design airing on major broadcasts in New York, New Orleans, Oakland, Pittsburgh, Courtesy of CBS Sports See Nate Marsh, page 8 Nate Marsh poses for a picture at the CBS studios in New York.

Arthur C. (A.C.) Ritt st 1 Head Coach 1928-1933 Arthur C. (A.C.) Ritt st 1 Head Coach 1928-1933 Mr. A. C. Ritt was Wm. Horlick High School’s first head football, basketball and track coach along with the first physical education and German instructor. Later he also served as an assistant principal at Horlick. Coach Ritt, who played football and basketball at Crystal Lake High School in Illinois went on to the University of Illinois and graduated in 1923. He began his coaching duties at Pittsfield, Illinois, where for two years he handled local high school teams in football, basketball, and track. From Pittsfield, he went to Negaunee, Michigan for another two years of coaching the same three sports. He was also degreed from University of California. When Coach Ritt arrived in Racine late in the fall of 1927, he was given the duties of coaching the lightweight basketball team at Racine High School. His success with the ‘Ponies’ was well known since it was the best basketball team Racine High School ever had. They played a tough Big Six Conference schedule and managed only two defeats. He taught physical education at Washington Junior High School for one year before coming to Horlick. Coach Ritt referred to the Horlick athletes as “Aggies” and just as it is today, Horlick’s emblem was “The North Star.” Coach Ritt believed that participation in Horlick sports taught cooperation, self-reliance, alertness, quick thinking, fair play, and good sportsmanship. Coach Ritt stated in the 1941 Polaris, “ Playing the game of football develops spirit, mind, and body, and all in all promotes The Horlick Way.” Coach Ritt conducted Horlick’s first football banquet on January 10, 1929.

Well, here you go. The national crisis is over. The annual post-Super Bowl football withdrawal, a seemingly incurable malady that impacts millions every year the second weekend in February and lasts weeks and months, is now in the past thanks to The Alliance of American Football, the creation of Charlie Ebersol, a television and film producer, and Bill Polian, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. They have the football game plan, the business model with multiple big-money investors and a national television contract with CBS to succeed where other spring leagues have failed. The idea is not to compete with the National Football League. That’s a failed concept. The Alliance will complement the NFL and satisfy the insatiable appetite of football fans who otherwise would be suffering from a long period of depression.
