Updated 12/16/14/ INDEX ANIMAL BITES 3 BATS AND RABIES 6 CLASSROOM PETS- SALMONELLA 9 BED BUGS 11 HEAD LICE 13 SCABIES 15 WEST NILE VIRUS 17 APPENDICES 19 APPENDIX A: IMPORTANT CONTACT NUMBERS APPENDIX B: REPORTABLE DISEASE LIST APPENDIX C: OTHER INFECTIOUS DISEASES 2 Updated 1/12/15 Return to Index Animal Bites Background: Most wild animals tend to avoid humans, but they can bite if they feel threatened, are protecting their young or territory, are injured or ill, or if people attempt to approach or feed them. Although bites by wild animals can be more dangerous, bites by domestic animals are far more common. Animals’ saliva can be heavily populated with harmful bacteria and secondary infections of wounds often occur. In addition, animals can transmit zoonotic infections such as rabies (See: Bats and Rabies for more Rabies Information), tetanus, hantavirus, etc. Children are more likely to be bitten by animals and can sometimes sustain severe injuries because of their love of animals and inherent curiosity. In a school setting, bites most frequently involve classroom pets; however, bites can also occur from stray pets or wild animals on campus, especially bats, or an animal being brought to school by a student. Common Classroom Pets Rodents (hamsters, rats, gerbils, mice) Reptiles (lizards, snakes, turtles) Amphibians (frogs, toads) Rabbits Fish None of these caged animals pose any rabies risk. The likelihood of a cat or a dog being infected with rabies in Maricopa County is low- the last known rabid dog was documented in 1978. However, if any animal is displaying the possible neurological signs of Rabies (See: Signs and Symptoms) it’s important to call the MCDPH 24/7 Rabies Hotline (602 747-7111) to receive a risk assessment.

  • The Formation of Temporary Communities in Anime Fandom: a Story of Bottom-Up Globalization ______
THE FORMATION OF TEMPORARY COMMUNITIES IN ANIME FANDOM: A STORY OF BOTTOM-UP GLOBALIZATION ____________________________________ A Thesis Presented to the Faculty of California State University, Fullerton ____________________________________ In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Master of Arts in Geography ____________________________________ By Cynthia R. Davis Thesis Committee Approval: Mark Drayse, Department of Geography & the Environment, Chair Jonathan Taylor, Department of Geography & the Environment Zia Salim, Department of Geography & the Environment Summer, 2017 ABSTRACT Japanese animation, commonly referred to as anime, has earned a strong foothold in the American entertainment industry over the last few decades. Anime is known by many to be a more mature option for animation fans since Western animation has typically been sanitized to be “kid-friendly.” This thesis explores how this came to be, by exploring the following questions: (1) What were the differences in the development and perception of the animation industries in Japan and the United States? (2) Why/how did people in the United States take such interest in anime? (3) What is the role of anime conventions within the anime fandom community, both historically and in the present? These questions were answered with a mix of historical research, mapping, and interviews that were conducted in 2015 at Anime Expo, North America’s largest anime convention. This thesis concludes that anime would not have succeeded as it has in the United States without the heavy involvement of domestic animation fans. Fans created networks, clubs, and conventions that allowed for the exchange of information on anime, before Japanese companies started to officially release anime titles for distribution in the United States.

  • Waterfowl/Migratory Bird Hunting Regulations
2021 - 2022 Migratory Game A Bird Hunting L Regulations A S K Photo by Jamin Hunter Taylor Graphic Design by Sue Steinacher A The 2021 state duck stamp features a photograph by Jamin Hunter Taylor of a male ring-necked duck (Aythya collaris). Jamin is an Alaska-based nature photographer who specializes in hunting Alaska’s diverse avifauna through the lens of his camera. Ring-necked ducks breed throughout much of Alaska and often congregate into large flocks during fall migration. Unlike most other diving ducks, ring-necked ducks are frequently found in relatively small, shallow ponds and wetlands. The appropriateness of the bird’s common name (and scientific name “collaris”) is often questioned because, in the field, the neck ring is rarely visible. However, in hand it becomes obvious that males of the species do exhibit a chestnut-colored collar at the base of the neck. Despite their name, the species is more easily identified based on their pointed head shape and white ring around the bill. The State of Alaska is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer. Contact [email protected] for alternative formats of this publication. 2 LICENSE AND STAMP REQUIREMENTS Resident Hunters All Alaska residents age 18 or older must possess a hunting license to hunt in Alaska and must carry it while hunting. Resident hunters 60 years old or older may obtain a free, permanent identification card issued by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G). This card replaces the sport fishing, hunting, and trapping licenses. Disabled veterans qualified under AS 16.05.341 may receive a free hunting license.

  • Sanitizer and Disinfectant
How to Properly Make and Use Sanitizers & Disinfectants SANITIZING FOOD CONTACT SURFACES A solution of bleach and water should be used to sanitize all food preparation and contact surfaces. 1 tablespoon of bleach per 1 gallon of water will give you a 50-200 ppm sanitizing solution. This can be used to sanitize dishes, utensils, food preparation counters and tables. * Make sure that you use only UNSCENTED bleach for food contact surfaces and that you are using chemical test strips to check the sanitizer concentration. All spray bottles must be clearly labeled with contents.* DISINFECTING CHANGING TABLES, BATHROOMS, TOYS All changing tables/diapering areas, bathrooms and toys must be disinfected after each use. The following solution of bleach and water should be used on these surfaces: 1 tablespoon of bleach per 1 quart of water OR ¼ cup of bleach per 1 gallon of water This will give you a 500-800 ppm disinfecting solution. Remake solution daily. Soaking method for toys: Wash and rinse toys to remove any visible dirt. Soak toys in a solution of ¾ cup of bleach per gallon of water for 5 minutes. • Japanese Manga and Its Buds Lynne, Miyaki Final Project Bleach
Priest 1 Alexander Priest May 2013 Jpnt 179 Graphically Speaking: Japanese Manga and Its Buds Lynne, Miyaki Final Project Bleach ‘Live Action’ Screenplay This is a satirical screenplay of the manga series created by Tite Kubo. Priest 2 Introduction: There haven’t been many American ‘live action’ movie adaptations of manga. There was a brief period, where movies Speed Racer (2008), Astro Boy (2009), and Dragonball Evolution (2009) debuted and theatres, but they would receive negative or mixed reception. To commemorate these movies, I have drafted an intentionally horrible screenplay for my imaginary movie, Bleach: Soul Reaper ™. Unfortunately, I was not able to create that would actually span an entire movie. A myriad of difficulties and challenges embodies the difficulties that come with creating these adaptations in the first place. Firstly, I have had a lack of experience in screenplay writing. My second struggle came with adapting the much-loved Bleach and trying to corrupt it for the sake of satire. Maintaining a coherent storyline is difficult when you are also trying tamper with existing plots and storylines. Adaptations will always contradict the source material, it is inevitable, but much effort goes in deciding what should and shouldn’t be changed. Successfully fulfilling the notion of a “terrible adaptation” proves more challenging than initially expected. Thirdly, I didn’t know how to keep the screenplay informative without inserting footnotes to provide context and justification. The purpose of this project is to reveal common mistakes and disastrous trends within American interpretations of Japanese source materials, so I created a portion of a live-action screenplay that embodies this.
