CINCINNATI BALLET PRESENTS WORLD PREMIERES AND RETURNING FAVORITES Exciting storybook classics and mixed repertoire productions in store for 51st Season

CINCINNATI, OH. – Cincinnati Ballet’s 2014-2015 Season sees the return of blockbuster ballet favorites and exciting world premieres: The Kaplan New Works Series, Peter Pan, Frisch’s Presents , ALICE (in wonderland), Mozart’s Requiem and Director’s Choice.

Celebrating 10 years of continuous presentation this season, The Kaplan New Works Series opens the 51st Season in a new location. With continual record-breaking sales and attendance figures, New Works will now be presented in the Jarson-Kaplan Theater at the Aronoff Center for the Arts, September 11 through September 21. The Jarson-Kaplan seats 437, allowing for more audiences to experience what The Cincinnati Enquirer calls “one of the area’s most adventurous season-opening enterprises.” New Works features new choreography from Jennifer Archibald of Arch Dance Company, returning favorite choreographer Heather Britt, Cincinnati Ballet Artistic Director & CEO Victoria Morgan, Amy Seiwert of Imagery and the renowned William Whitener.

First debuted in 1994 by Cincinnati Ballet, with a score composed by Maestro Carmon DeLeone, Peter Pan returns to the stage stage November 7 through November 9. With whimsical choreography by Septime Webre, including flying, Peter Pan tells the classic story of the boy who wouldn’t grow up, and is accompanied by the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.

Frisch’s Presents The Nutcracker runs December 19 through December 27 at the Aronoff Center for the Arts. One of Cincinnati’s greatest holiday traditions, The Nutcracker was re- envisioned in 2011 by Morgan, a success Cincinnati CityBeat says “strikes a delightful balance between light family fare and serious technical ballet”. -more- The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra will perform Tchaikovsky’s magical score live at each performance.

Making its Cincinnati Ballet debut in 2012 to record-breaking audiences, ALICE (in wonderland) returns February 13 through 15. Choreographed by Septime Webre and with costumes designed by Cirque du Soleil alum Liz Vandal, ALICE boasts colorful exuberance, telling the childhood fantasy favorite story by Lewis Carroll in a larger-than-life way. The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra performs live with Cincinnati Ballet.

Called “a rich and important addition to the Cincinnati Ballet repertory” by The Cincinnati Enquirer, Mozart’s Requiem returns to Cincinnati Ballet March 20 through March 21. Choreographed by Cincinnati Ballet’s resident choreographer Adam Hougland, Mozart’s Requiem is a dramatic, thought-provoking presentation of striking tableaus and visuals that exemplify everyday humanity and struggles. Performed to the eponymous mass composition by Wolfgang Mozart, played by the Cincinnati Ballet Orchestra, Mozart’s Requiem is a masterpiece presentation of the both the dark and the hopeful sides of life.

Ballet Toybox returns in its fourth season, offering the perfect opportunity to introduce young children to the joy of dance on Sunday, March 22. The program features CBII (Cincinnati Ballet’s Second Company) in a mix of ballet and storybook classics. At under an hour and only $20 a ticket, Ballet Toybox is an interactive adventure where the audience learns about the essential elements that make up the beauty, humor and inspiring discipline of dance.

May 8 and May 9 brings Director’s Choice, a mixed-repertoire presentation including Chasing Squirrel, Classical Symphony, and Feast of the Gods. The high-energy Chasing Squirrel, choreographed by Trey McIntyre of the Trey McIntyre Project, was chosen for the May 2014 company tour to New York City’s heralded . Classical Symphony, by choreographer in residence Yuri Possokhov, has been hailed by The New York Times as an “exhilarating and bold display of full-throttle academic pure dance with modern accentuations.” Feast of the Gods, from BalletMet Columbus artistic director Edwaard Liang, premiered in 2009, is set to the nostalgic, lively Ancient Airs and Dances, by renowned Italian composer Ottorino Respighi, and was inspired by the history of a band of traveling gypsies.
