Dear of Vermont Youth,

At age 18, Kyle describes his life as a series of unfortunate events and bad luck. I’d say that’s putting it mildly.

When our staff met him last summer, Kyle was homeless and living in the woods in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. What preceded that is the kind of story we hear all too often – a troubled home life and family instability which led to Kyle being placed in foster care during his formative teen years.

Eventually, Kyle was alone and on his own at age 18, struggling with mental health issues. He was not nearly ready for the realities of independent life as an adult. Few teens are. You can give Kyle hope. needs your support. That’s where you come in. *hopeful.

With your support, we can continue to be by Kyle’s side, to help him navigate his way through this difficult time.

Will you please make a gift today and unlock the door to a better future for Kyle and other Vermont youth? Your gift will be doubled for the month of December!

You can help youth like Kyle break the cycle of hunger, poverty, and trauma. Your gift will give them a chance to heal from their past, to learn new life and coping skills, to find safe housing, pursue education and employment – to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams.

For the moment, Kyle has temporary shelter. And perhaps most important of all – our staff person Bill is a caring adult who Kyle can count on for support, advice, and guidance.

“Now I’m not alone with whatever’s going on. They gave me things that helped build me up and lighten the stress while homeless and helped me move forward on plans and goals. And they made me feel like I could trust. Bill has all of my trust – he’s on my side.”

COVID-19 has taken a toll in so many ways – I hope you and your loved ones are safe and well and persevering. If you are able to donate now, I ask that you make the largest contribution that you can. It will make a world of difference in so many lives. Together we can help even more youth in need.

Name and image in this story were changed to protect confidentiality. (continued on back)

You can be part of the solution to homelessness, food insecurity, and poverty in our communities. Because your donation helps ensure that youth have a solid foundation to build stable, self-sufficient lives as adults.

Kyle still needs you and the Youth Service Bureau as he continues the hard work to stabilize his life and pursue his goals and dreams.

“I’m hopeful I’ll be able to gain mental and financial stability. I’ll try until the very end.”

Kyle has his whole life ahead of him. Let’s help him make it a good one!

With much gratitude,

Kreig Pinkham Executive Director

P.S. Please send your most generous gift today – and it will be doubled – to help vulnerable youth move beyond the traumas and crises in their lives and build bright futures. We’re all better off when every youth is successful in life.
