Step by Step Instructions for AOMEI Backupper Standard 3.2

A. Backupper installation 1) Go to http://backup-utility.com and download the FREE Version following their rather confusing instructions and download and install AOMEI Backupper. 2) Or, you may simply use the copy that I have reserved for you at: https://goo.gl/HkHGAc 3) Click on the [Download Button] and then the [Download anyway] button 4) Depending on the options your Browser gives you, you may be able to save the BackupperFull.exe installer program. I suggest that you save it to your Desktop and then running the installer from the Desktop 5) Or, after the download is complete, you may be able to run the installer directly from your Browser without saving it 6) Follow normal Setup instructions to complete the install

B. Making a System Backup Image 1) Double click on the AOMEI Backupper Standard desktop icon 2) Connect the USB external/portable hard drive 3) Click on Backup > System Backup 4) Name Task (I suggest you add the date (EG. 2015-11-19) 5) System Backup - Step 1 should have your System Drive selected. 6) Click in System Backup - Step 2 box and select your USB Hard Drive and desired folder and then click Open 7) Start Backup 8) If you are going to upgrade to Windows 10, I highly recommend that you make a System Backup prior to the Win 10 Upgrade in case the Upgrade fails and doesn’t roll back correctly or you find you don’t like Win 10 9) As a routine, you should make a new System Image at least once per month with an Incremental Image on subsequent weeks 10) To make an Incremental System Image, from the AOMEI Backupper Home view, place the cursor over the most recent Full System Backup and click on the [Backup] button that pops up 11) Click on Incremental Backup 12) Enter comments if desired and click Start Backup

C. Creation of Bootable Media 1) Insert a USB Flash drive ( 500MB minimum) or a blank writeable CD into PC that will be used as a boot disk in case PC becomes unbootable 2) Click on Utilities and then Create Bootable Media 3) Select Windows PE - Create bootable disk based on Windows PE. This is the necessary type for a PC that came with Win 8 or 10 installed

4) If an error about the need to download the Win AIK/ADK occurs proceed to Section E. and then try to make the media disk again 5) Select USB Boot Device or CD and click Next 6) Accept all options. Wait until Bootable Disk is created. Click Finish. 7) If you used a flash drive, Safely eject USB Flash Drive 8) Test the Bootable Media by the with it 9) Label and keep the media in a safe place in case you need to recover a previous System Disk image and your PC won’t boot

D. Instructions for Restoring the 1) If your computer starts and the AOMEI Backupper Standard program is installed, proceed. If your computer does not boot, see Note below: 2) Start Backupper and select Restore 3) Click on backup image you want to restore from 4) Click Yes and if you have an Incremental Backup that you want to use, click on it. Otherwise, click on Full Backup 5) Click [Next] 6) Click [Start Restore] 7) Click [Yes] allowing Backupper to restart your computer and to do the System restoration.

E. Installing AOMEI PXE boot tool If you received the error mentioned in section C 4) above, perform the AOMEI PXI Boot Tool as described below: 1) Click on Utilities 2) Scroll down, if necessary, and select the AOMEI PXE Boot Tool option 3) Select Boot from AOMEI Windows PE system 4) Click [Start Service] 5) Pick AIK or ADK link based on your Windows Version 6) Proceed through the install procedure 7) Return to section C 4) above

Note. If your computer will not boot, you will have to boot from the Bootable USB Flash Drive or CD and it will load a version of Backupper that will allow you to use a previous System Image from your USB Hard Drive.
