A total of 17 issues had been published through that date. From 1997 until the present, a larger single issue has been published each year, with the 1997 issue designated as “Volume 10, Issue 18, 1997. Starting with the issue printed in 2011 the volume was dropped and only the issue number was used with the year of publication. HISTORICALLY JEFFCO, Part B – 2002 – 2017, is included with the Issue, the Year and Page(s) in the index. A set of HISTORICALLY JEFFCO magazine may be found in the reference section of the Jefferson County Libraries as well as at the Jefferson County Archives. We thank the archivist Ronda Frazier for providing us with copies from which to work. Traditionally the magazine has listed all current members of the Jefferson County Historical Commission, and the County Commissioners in each issue. We have elected not to include those names in the index, but they are cited in separate listings on the following pages. A complete list of Hall of Fame members, who have been designated by the Historical Commission is also included. Biographical information on the Hall of Fame members is included in the index when it has been published. 2002 – 2017 Articles & Authors p. 1-10 2002 – 2017 Commissioners, Commissioners Staff p. 11 2002 – 2017 County Archivist p. 11 2002 – 2017 Hall of Fame p. 12 2002 – 2017 Historical Commissions p. 13 2002 – 2017 Names p. 14-74 2002 – 2017 Subject/Location Place Names p. 75-158 HISTORICALLY JEFFCO 2002 - 2017 Articles and Authors Issue #23, 2002 p. 1 New Fossil Trace Golf Course: Tracks Make a Big Impression on New Golden Links – by Jerry Grunska p. 6 Glimpses of History: Jefferson County’s Places from the Past - by Kathleen Norman p. 10 Reflections of a Depression-Era Teenager – by Jerry Grunska and Lawrence Lotito p. 14 Jolly Rancher: Sweetness in Flux – by Jerry Grunska p. 18 Southwest Jeffco Trails and Toll Roads – by Lee Heideman p. 23 The National Historic Register – The Barnes-Perry House - by Charles Hanson p. 24 Jefferson County Hall of Fame: Robert Williamson Steele: Robert W. “Bob” Richardson p. 26 Pleasant Park: In the Beginning – by Karen Land Cranford p. 35 Ralston Remains – by Martha Martin p. 38 Starting from Scratch, Chicken Scratch – by Fran Hackethal p. 44 JCHC Highlights, Members, Staff and Commissioners Issue #24, 2003 p. 2 Traceries – by Jerry Grunska p. 8 Prohibition in Republican County – by Martha Martin p. 14 Moonshiners, Robbers and Frontier Law - by Lee Heideman p. 18 Protecting Your Family’s Heirlooms – by Angela M. By examining the cultural roots of Denver’s mountain parks this study links the conservation and preservation movements of the Progressive Era to specifically urban concerns. Jefferson County, Colorado Comprehensive Annual Financial Report For the year ended December 31, 2016 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report L IBBY S ZABO , CASEY TIGHE AND DONALD ROSIER JEFFERSON COUNTY, COLORADO BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Prepared by Jefferson County Accounting Division For the year ended December 31, 2016 Peaks to Plains Trail, Clear Creek Canyon Park The Peaks to Plains Trail through Clear Creek Canyon Park in and around Golden, Colorado represents a trail of statewide significance as it is a critical piece of a future 65-mile-long trail corridor and a connection to a larger 200-mile statewide trail. The vision for the entire Peaks to Plains Trail is that it will one day connect the South Platte Trail in Denver to Loveland Pass and then westward via many existing trails all the way to Glenwood Springs. The Clear Creek Canyon Park segment is managed by Jeffco Open Space and construction started on the Peaks to Plains Trail in January 2014. The first three miles of trail, shared with Clear Creek County Open Space, were opened in July 2016, and in 2017 the trail will be extended downstream about three-fourths of a mile to a new trailhead. The construction of this trail in Clear Creek Canyon has been some of the most challenging and innovative trail-building work that Jeffco Open Space has been involved with, and once complete, this legacy project will allow future generations to experience and connect with the outdoors in this spectacular canyon. After three years of rigorous work, Jefferson and Clear Creek Counties proudly opened their first segment of the Peaks to Plains Trail on July 28, 2016.
