Difficulty Rating - The difficulty ratings were established by taking into account the elevation gain and/or loss of the leg (40%), the length of the leg (40%) and other variables including but not limited to: time of day runner/walker will be on the course, type of road surface and congestion/rural nature of the area (20%). The ratings are highly subjective and correspond to an approximate 10% increase in difficulty from one rating to the next. (E - Easy. M - Moderate. H -Hard. VH - Very Hard.)
Peak Symbol - The “Peak” symbol is used to identify those legs of the course that a reasonable person would regard as “scenic” and/or “beautiful.” Although many conversations have been had about what actually constitutes as “scenic” and/or “beautiful,” the end result is a somewhat telling example of the diverse beauty and spendor of Oregon.
Arrow symbol - When you come to an intersection and there are no arrow signs, you should continue straight. When there is an intersection where you should turn, you will see a directional BBC arrow.
Beer Chase Shield - Exchange point
Route - Running route shown as red line, mile markers as large white circle, and tenth mile markers as white dots. Please pay attention to instructions to run on the LEFT or RIGHT side of the road as instructed. We have runners on the LEFT whenever possible. However, due to traffic patterns (for example, cars drive slower uphill than downhill), safety concerns, and exchange point locations, please follow instructions to run on the RIGHT when instructed to do so in the Official Race Map. It becomes extremely unsafe when participants are on both sides of the road; therefore, teams will be disqualified and asked to leave the course if they are seen on the wrong side of the road.
Van Route - On some legs of the race, Vans are required to follow a different route than that shown for the runner/walker. When this occurs the Van Route is depicted using an orange dashed line. Inactive Vans shall follow the Route Maps as indicated for Inactive Vans.
The Bend Beer Chase is an OPEN ROAD event. Roads are not closed for this event. All road crossings must be at crosswalks and designated pedestrian crossings, and all participants shall adhere to pedestrian rules of the road. Participation in this event is at your own risk and liability. Race vans/vehicles must follow all rules of the road. Race vans shall only pull over in a designated pull- out or side road. Race vans shall never pull off on the side of the road where all tires are not safely on the other side of the white line, and shall never block a bike lane.

Description: Hosted at Tetherow Crossing Park, the Tetherow house was built around 1878 and is believed to be the oldest standing house in Deschutes County. The original owner was Andrew Jackson (A.J.) Tetherow, son of Solomon Tetherow, the leader of the Lost Meek wagon train of 1845, who discovered the Blue Bucket Mine. A.J. lived on the property with his wife and four children, and one of his children lived on the property until 1928. As many as 20 wagons and 100,000 head of cattle per day crossed the river at Tetherow Crossing.

Description: The competition has concluded for the Bend Beer Chase, but the party is just starting as you crawl your way through town to enjoy SEVEN of Bend’s best breweries! From Bend Brewing to Worthy Brewing to McMenamins, to Immersion Brewery, Avid Cider, Crux Fermentation Project, Silver Moon, Deschutes Brewery, and back to the Deschutes Historical Museum Finish Line party - phew! Although the relay course closes at 6:00pm...the party will continue until 9pm with live music, food, and BEER from all the sponsoring breweries of the Bend Beer Chase!
Notes: Take your time on this fun Pub Run with all of your teammates and enjoy the festivities at each of the brewery stops. Collect a raffle ticket from every brewery stop you reach, with double raffle tickets provided at Crux and Silver Moon. Bring these tickets back to the finish line party for your chance to win lots of great prizes - one team will even win a free registration to the Bend Beer Chase next year! The Raffle prizes will be drawn promptly at 7pm.
