Joy Baluch AM Bridge Duplication Project Temporary Road Closure - Tassie Street

The Joy Baluch AM Bridge is an important link in the National Land Transport Network at , providing access across the for commuter, commercial and freight vehicles in the northern region of . It is also a key tourist connection to the , northern South Australia and beyond. The Joy Baluch AM Bridge Duplication Project is a joint initiative of the Australian and South Australian governments and is being delivered by the Port Wakefield to Port Augusta Project (PW2PA) Alliance. As part of the project, and to enable the construction of two bridge piles close to Tassie Street will be temporarily closed to traffic in the vicinity of the works (see map overleaf). Pedestrian access along Tassie Street will continue to be provided.

Timing The temporary closure of Tassie Street is expected to commence from 7am, Tuesday, 6 April, 2021 for approximately 5 weeks. Works will be generally undertaken as follows: • Monday to Saturday, 7am to 7pm. • Sunday, 9am to 5pm.

Activities To safely undertake the works, a crane pad will be constructed on Tassie Street, which will then be used to drive piles into the ground up to a depth of 30 metres. Some noise and vibration disturbance can be expected at times while these works are completed, however the works will be managed to minimise disruption to nearby businesses and residents as much as practically possible. Noise and vibration monitoring will be undertaken during these works.

What to expect Signage will be in place to advise motorists of the temporary road closure and available detour route via Thompson Street, Flinders Terrace and Young Street. Access to residential and business properties will be maintained at all times. Pedestrian access along Tassie Street will be provided at all times, with traffic controllers onsite to assist when works are taking place.
