When an expensive car is pulled from the sea, veteran Northern Ireland police detective Tom Brannick (James Nesbitt - The Missing, Cold Feet) instantly sees the connection to an infamous cold case that holds enormous personal significance. Someone is trying to force the Police Service of Northern Ireland to re- open the investigation into a notorious and long-buried series of mysterious disappearances. Bloodlands follows Brannick’s obsessive campaign to unmask the semi-mythical figure behind these events – a figure code-named Goliath, after the giant shipyard cranes, Samson and Goliath that dominate the Belfast skyline. It’s a case that comes from the dark past. In the run up to the 1999 Good Friday Agreement which ended The Troubles – the violent sectarian conflict that scarred Northern Ireland for 30 years - a number of controversial individuals from both sides of the struggle, vanished. But no one wanted to rock the boat of the peace process and as these individuals simply disappeared, it was conveniently decided they had vanished of their own accord to escape justice or retribution and the issue was swept under the carpet. Tom has a special interest in the case in that he believes his wife - an intelligence officer, involved in highly dangerous undercover surveillance of terrorists - was one of his victims. Supported by his Detective Sergeant, Niahm McGovern, Tom launches an investigation un-approved by his superior officer and one-time friend Jackie Twomey, which brings them into conflict and threatens to embroil Tom’s beloved daughter Izzy, a medical student at Belfast’s Queen’s University. They embark on a journey to identify both Goliath - if such a person exists - and whoever is behind this mysterious campaign to awaken the ghosts of the past. The stakes for Tom could not be higher. 4 x 1 hr | UK Broadcaster: BBC One | Produced by: HTM | NEW Year of Production: 2020 2 3 DRAMA DRAMA THE SECRET A True Story DOCTOR THORNE The location: a picturesque seaside town in 1991. • Roots Report: an Interview with Weird Al
Roots Report: An Interview with Weird Al Okee dokee folks… Almost exactly one year ago I saw Weird Al Yankovic at the Zeiterion in New Bedford. In all honesty it was one of the BEST shows I have EVER seen. It was fun, funny, energetic … basically AWESOME! I had a grin on my face the whole time. Weird Al is a comical/musical genius. I know a lot of you will scoff at this and probably think what he does is easy. It’s not, but he makes it seem that way as he effortlessly genre-shifts and works lyrical magic with the lampoons. Weird Al is bringing his Mandatory Fun Show to the Providence Performing Arts Center on September 14, and I had the opportunity to talk to him about his tour, music and upcoming show. Before I did the interview I asked folks on Facebook what they would like to know about Al, and I based my all of questions on those responses. John Fuzek: What was your favorite video to film? Weird Al: Probably “Tacky” (a parody of “Happy” by Pharrell Williams). It was also one of the easier videos to film because it was all done in one shot. Once we had the DP and the crew rehearsed, my celebrity friends came in. We told them where their marks were, everybody was professional and we knocked it out in a couple of hours. It was great. I got to work with some of the funniest people I know: Jack Black, Aisha Tyler, Kristen Schaal, Margaret Cho and Eric Stonestreet … you know, they’re in my address book.

  • December 2018 When Cold Feet Isn’T Just Nerves
CALL US TODAY – 407-339-7759 • 352-589-9550 (LAKE CO.) News and Updates December 2018 When Cold Feet Isn’t Just Nerves People often talk about cold feet in terms of walking down the aisle or engaging in a stressful event, but what’s going on when your feet just feel cold for seemingly no reason? Many causes of cold feet are nothing to worry about, but others can be sign of an underlying problem. It pays to talk with a podiatrist about your condition if it keeps returning or causes you concerns for other reasons. Among the most common causes of cold feet is poor circulation. The feet, being far from your heart, already have a bigger challenge receiving warm blood fl ow. If a condition is causing your general circulation to be slower, your feet will be among the fi rst to feel it. A potential cause of interrupted circulation is Raynaud’s phenomenon which causes blood vessels in the hands and/or feet to suddenly constrict and spasm, reducing blood fl ow. While sometimes associated with another condition, Raynaud’s phenomenon can also happen entirely on its own to an otherwise healthy person. Also, in some cases, certain medications can mimic this effect. If you are sensing cold, but your feet don’t actually feel cold to the touch, that may be the sign that something is amiss neurologically. The nerves that sense temperature may not be operating as they should and damaged in some way (neuropathy). If that cold feeling also comes with tingling or numbness, the odds of a nerve problem become even more likely.
