2012 - 2013 MEDIA GUIDE www.bcsfootball.org The Coaches’ Trophy Each year the winner of the BCS National Champi- onship Game is presented with The Coaches’ Trophy in an on-field ceremony after the game. The current presenting sponsor of the trophy is Dr Pepper. The Coaches’ Trophy is a trademark and copyright image owned by the American Football Coaches As- sociation. It has been awarded to the top team in the Coaches’ Poll since 1986. The USA Today Coaches’ Poll is one of the elements in the BCS Standings. The Trophy — valued at $30,000 — features a foot- ball made of Waterford® Crystal and an ebony base. The winning institution retains The Trophy for perma- nent display on campus. Any portrayal of The Coaches’ Trophy must be li- censed through the AFCA and must clearly indicate the AFCA’s ownership of The Coaches’ Trophy. Specific licensing information and criteria and a his- tory of The Coaches’ Trophy are available at www.championlicensing.com. TOM MICKLE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM The Football Bowl Subdivision con- ferences and institutions sponsor the Tom Mickle BCS Internship in the of- fice of the bowl that will host the na- tional championship game each year. The program, currently in its seventh year, is intended as an opportunity for a young person to become involved in administering the event. It honors the memory of Mr. Mickle, who made many contributions to college football in general and to the development of Tom Mickle the BCS in particular. At the time of his passing, Mickle was the executive director of Florida Citrus Sports, host of the Capital One Bowl and the Champs Sports Bowl. Prior to his appointment at Florida Citrus Sports in 2002, he was an associ- ate commissioner at the Atlantic Coast Conference and also had been an assistant athletics director at Duke University.     COLLEGE FOOTBALL GREAT TEAMS OF THE PAST 2 SET ROSTER The following players comprise the College Football Great Teams 2 Card Set. The regular starters at each position are listed first and should be used most frequently. Realistic use of the players below will generate statistical results remarkably similar to those from real life. IMPORTANT: When a Red "K" appears in the R-column as the result on any kind of running play from scrimmage or on any return, roll the dice again, refer to the K-column, and use the number there for the result. When a player has a "K" in his R-column, he can never be used for kicking or punting. If the symbol "F-K" or "F-P" appears on a players card, it means that you use the K or P column when he recovers a fumble. Players in bold are starters. If there is a difference between the player's card and the roster sheet, always use the card information. The number in ()s after the player name is the number of cards that the player has in this set. WHEREAS, steeped in a tradition of gridiron excellence, with the strains of "Rocky Top" ringing triumphantly in their delighted ears, our beloved Tennessee Volunteers have fulfilled their long time goal of winning the NCAA National Championship; and WHEREAS, on one of the most historic days in state history, January 4, 1999, this quest for college football superiority was achieved, much to the joy of Tennessee faithful throughout Orange Land, as Coach Fulmer and the University of Tennessee Volunteers defeated the tough Florida State University Seminoles to become 1998 NCAA National Champions; and WHEREAS, ranked 10th in the nation at the beginning of the season, this Orange-clad cast of players quickly established themselves as a team of destiny with an exciting come-from- behind 34-33 victory on the road against the Syracuse Orangemen; behind the running of Jamal Lewis and Tee Martin the Vols emerged victorious as Winchester native Jeff Hall kicked a last- second 27-yard field goal in a thrilling game; and WHEREAS, Hall was one of many heroes for the Vols in the second game against Florida as they won a titanic battle with the Gators, 20-17; a Shawn Bryson 57-yard touchdown dash, Tee Martin-to-Peerless Price touchdown pass, and swarming defense, led by linebacker HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 35 001763 -1- Al Wilson sealed the Vols' overtime win

Tennessee is 2-1 after posting a 70-3 win over Louisiana-Monroe. Both teams are 0-1 in league play as the Tigers fell to Auburn, 34-17, two weeks ago, while the Vols fell to Florida, 27-23. TIGERS FALL TO UAB ON LAST SECOND FIELD GOAL, 13-10 UAB’s Rhett Gallego kicked a 32-yard field goal as time expired to lift the Blazers to an unlikey 13-10 win over LSU in Tiger Stadium on Saturday night. Gallego’s field goal came just seconds after UAB’s Chris Brown intercepted a Josh Booty pass and returned it 25 yards to the LSU 17-yard line. with 25 seconds left in the contest.
