  • Lordi Killection
Lordi Killection Release January 31, 2020 Genre Hardrock / Heavy Metal Producer Studio Cover Artwork Mr. Lordi TIP Photographer Nobody knows exactly how old the Finish monsters really are or how long they’ve been striking terror into people’s hearts. Officially the Rock/Heavy Metal monsters LORDI were founded in 1992 by lead singer, songwriter, visual art designer and costume designer Mr. Lordi. The band has deep Finnish roots, originating from the city of Rovaniemi, in Lapland. In 2006 they celebrated their international breakthrough by winning the Eurovision Song Contest (“Hard Rock Hallelujah”) They are Finland’s only winners to date and they earned more points than any other artists in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest up to that time. But is it possible that this is only a pale misperception of our poor, small, pathetic reality? Is there, however unlikely it may seem, another truer reality? What if LORDI would have already been making music since the early 70's? And what if they have been releasing one hit single after the other since those times and now, almost 50 years later, are looking back on a full collection of songs that have been successful ever since? This is exactly the idea that LORDI are celebrating, or maybe a more appropriate word is executing, with their newest studio album “Killection.” Killection will be released on January 31st via AFM Records/Soulfood Music. Once more Mr Lordi, the master of the masquerade, presents us with one of his ideas, absurd and genius at the same time, and comes up with a concept that has never been done before in the music industry: "Killection" is a compilation album that simply says “what if” LORDI had been in existence since the early 70's.

  • Zz Top the Studio Albums 1970 – 1990
im Auftrag: medienAgentur Stefan Michel T 040-5149 1467 F 040-5149 1465 [email protected] ZZ TOP THE STUDIO ALBUMS 1970 – 1990 VÖ: 7. Juni ZZ Top hoch 10!

  • Improving CVC Video Tape Trasfer Quality
Improving CVC Video Recording Transfer Quality Leo Backman/DigiOmmel & Co. DigiOmmel & Co. was recently commissioned to digitize a batch of obsolete CVC® video tape recordings. The recordings date back to mid-1980s. For this project, we rejuvenated our CVC machine stock, and modified our primary transfer VCRs to provide optimal replay signal stability and quality. An Y/C component video output was added to improve the luminance and chrominance signal transfer at capture stage. Compact Video Cassette format was developed by Funai Electric Trading Co., LTD., sponsored by Technicolor Corporation. CVC units, made by Funai, were marketed under various OEM brands such as Canon, Chinon, Grundig, Saba, Siemens, Uher and Universum (Quelle). Grundig, however, modified the original CVC format by lowering the tape speed in their model VP100, to achieve an extended recording time. Short CVC history The CVC format parameters for CCIR/PAL video signal were finalized in October 1981. In fact, CVC was the first small cassette, consumer-grade, color-capable VCR on the market, making it a rival format to portable stand-alone Beta and VHS recorders. CVC video signal encoding format is very similar to VHS; all the Y/C signal recording and playback processes can be carried out by a standard VHS video chip set (Hitachi). CVC’s more modern feature is a dynamic (level-dependent) pre-emphasis in luminance signal process, as opposed to a fixed pre- emphasis of the VHS format (Fig. 1). Figure 1. The CVC format employs dynamic high-frequency luminance pre-emphasis, while VHS format uses a fixed pre-emphasis.

  • Tales from the Crypt
Ah, HBO. Here in the year 2014, those three little initials are shorthand for quality, original programming; small screen event television almost certain to be immeasurably superior to the megabucks offerings of your local multiplex. The network also boasts a rich tradition of brining monsters into our living rooms, with the unsavoury actions of Livia Soprano, Gyp Rosetti, Cy Tolliver and Joffrey Baratheon horrifying viewers of all walks of life. Way back in the late 1980s, however, HBO introduced us to an altogether different kind of miscreant; a wisecracking living corpse, a teller of tall tales that focussed on vampires, zombies and the evil that men do. Jackanory it most certainly wasn’t – we’re referring, of course, to the legendary Tales from the Crypt. In the 80s, TV anthology horror was as much a fixture as leg warmers, John Hughes movies and the musical stylings of Duran Duran. Rod Serling’s Twilight Zone had enjoyed a redux, James Coburn invited us to his Darkroom, a certain pizza-faced dream demon hosted Freddy’s Nightmares, and genre enthusiasts were gripped by the Ray Bradbury Theater. Perhaps the most prosperous purveyor of small screen shivers was producer Richard Rubinstein, who enjoyed phenomenal success with Tales from the Darkside (the brainchild of none other than George Romero, director of the beloved portmanteau picture Creepshow) and Monsters. Bright and breezy 30-minute creature features with their tongue frequently placed firmly in their cheek, these shows were heavily influenced by the infamous EC horror comics of the 1950s, with a perverse sense of morality at the dark heart of the stories.
