VR Service History or other Service History Hudswell Clarke Locomotives - Hudswell, Clarke and Company Limited was an engineering and locomotive building company in Jack Lane, Hunslet, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England.
Hudswell Clarke were to become widely known in Australia and Fiji as the builders of locomotives for 2 ft gauge sugar cane tramways.
Two 0-4-2ST locomotives were imported for Pleystowe mill (Nos. 1559 of 1925 and 1622 of 1928). These had 8x12 in cylinders.

Jul 2007 - Hudswell Clarke Steam Engine No 4 This engine is running well and is the museum pilot engine
Aug 2007 - Hudswell Clarke Engine No.4 Since its overhaul and rebuilding, this engine has been regularly steamed to keep it in top condition. Boiler treatment has been placed into the water to lengthen the life of the boiler. The injector check valve has been lapped due to excessive dripping. This work was done by Stan Gunn. Otherwise the engine steams well. Long term we need to replace the saddle tank and this item could well be a subject for a donation to the railway as any donations are an Income Tax allowable deduction. Dec 2007 - Menzies Creek - Annual Christmas Barbecue Saturday 1st December 2007. No.4 in steam that day.
