Funny, tragic at times, a little bit of romance, really well done.Cain is the most amazing character in all of WH 40K. A commisar, who really doesn't want to be there. Headline for my review.By Christian A.I'm not a seasoned reader by any standard, but the little I have read of the warhammer 40k books usually have been quite fun reads with battles and brotherly hi jinks with other factions. That's all that describes those books though for me at the moment though. This book seems to be more than that though, being my first imperial guard book, It does a nice job of showing the less godly men of the imperium. And in funny and heartening ways. There are more relatable character than the usual Brotherly Monk or the Dr. Evil Space Marine. And i like that. I still of course enjoy both, but this one is definitely a cut above on relatablility in relation to space marine books (that I've read).3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. With local forces unable to contain the widespread civil disorder, Commissar Cain and his regiment of Valhallans are called in to help. However, it seems there is more to the rebellion than first appeared and Cain suspects sinister forces at work behind the scenes. About the Author Sandy Mitchell is a pseudonym of Alex Stewart, who has been working as a freelance writer for the last couple of decades. He has written science fiction and fantasy in both personae, as well as television scripts, magazine articles, comics, and gaming material.
