V recenzijski postopke sprejema članke v slovenščini in angleščini s področja sociologije, komunikologije, poltitologije in kulturologije ter tem raziskovalnim področjem bližnjih družboslovnih disciplin. Pri izboru člankov za objavo se upošteva njihova raziskovalna inovativnost ter aktualnost glede na trende v znanstveni skupnosti, v kateri je revija zasidrana. V teoretskem in metodološkem pogledu je revija pluralistično naravnana, posebno skrb pa posveča utrjevanju slovenske družboslovne terminologije. Editorial policy: Družboslovne razprave is a peer reviewed journal which publishes papers and book reviews. Contributions are invited in fields of sociology, media studies, political science, cultural studies and other studies which are close to these fields. The published contributions should display high level of research originality and address the themes which seem relevant to the scientific communities in which the journal is grounded. Both in theoretical and methodological respects the journal stands for pluralism. In her criticism of gay and lesbian identity politics, Judith Butler famously claimed that the only unifying experience of the LGBT community, which is as diverse as life itself, is the experience of homophobia (Butler 1991). Although it is hard to challenge this observation, there seem to be radically different experiences in how one is faced with homophobia. BBC radio journalist Scott Mills, for example, starts his documentary The World’s Worst Place to Be Gay (Follmer 2011) about prosecution of homosexuals in Uganda by an assessment that he, as a gay man, has never really experienced any violent homophobic reactions. He admits he never really gave it a lot of thought until he was forced to flee Uganda after revealing his sexual orientation to Uganda’s MP David Bahati, the author of the so called “Kill the gays” bill, which specifies the death penalty for homosexual behaviour (Conaway 2010). Recent developments in Russia, where Putin has pushed a series of three anti-gay laws through the Duma, are other examples of homophobia. The first law of the three prohibits discussions about homosexuality, classifying it as “homosexual propaganda” which, according to the law, equals pornography. Furthermore, Russian police

Pedagošku akademiju završio je u Mostaru, a povijest diplomirao na Filozofskom fakultetu u Zagrebu, gdje je 2003. i doktorirao. Duži niz godina radio je na Filozofskom fakultetu u Osijeku kao nositelj kolegija iz hrvatske i svjetske povijesti 20. stoljeća, a predavao je i na Hrvatskom katoličkom sveučilištu u Zagrebu. Danas predaje kao vanjski suradnik na Hrvatskim studijima u Zagrebu, a od 2008. zaposlen je na Hrvatskom institutu za povijest – Podružnica za povijest Slavonije, Srijema i Baranje u Slavonskom Brodu. Dosad je objavio nekoliko znanstvenih knjiga, srednjoškolskih udžbenika, te nekoliko desetaka znanstvenih radova, ponajprije na temu odnosa države i Crkve. IV SAŽETAK Prvim višestranačkim izborima u proljeće 1990., odnosno dokidanjem dotadašnjeg jednopartijskog komunističkog sustava vlasti, Republika Hrvatska priključuje se sveopćem procesu demokratizacije koji je u to vrijeme već bio zahvatio većinu dotadašnjih komunističkih zemalja u Europi. Novim hrvatskim Ustavom (iz prosinca 1990.), utemeljenim na načelima demokracije, i kršćanstvo je dobilo svoju punu slobodu proglašenjem ustavnog načela vjerske slobode.

CROATIAN CATHOLIC CHURCH AND ITS ROLE IN POLITICS AND SOCIETY Thomas Bremer Dr. Thomas Bremer (Roman Catholic) is professor of ecumenical theology and Peace Studies at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Münster, Germany. He has published several books and many articles on Orthodox theology, on the situation of churches in Eastern Europe, and is a specialist on south eastern Europe. Bremer is also a member of REE’s advisory editorial board. This article first appeared as a chapter in a book published in 2008.1 Bremer finished his text in 2006, so new dioceses created in 2010, for example, are not included. We are happy to publish it in REE because it provides a needed broad survey of recent Catholic Church developments in Croatia.
