About the COVID-19 vaccine • All people aged 18 and over are now eligible for the vaccination. • If you are aged over 50, living with a long term condition or have a suppressed immune system, you are at increased risk from Covid. Vaccines can help prevent you becoming seriously ill. • The vaccines are safe and have been through rigorous checks, as well as extensive trials. • Each vaccine requires two doses, 8 weeks apart (or sooner for people with health conditions that make them more vulnerable). The 1st dose gives you good protection from 3 or 4 weeks after having it. Having the second dose gives you stronger and longer-lasting protection. • Having a vaccination is the best way to protect yourself, your family and your community from serious illness.
