19/10/2004 Start My trip in the art and IT world starts today. I looked back at one day, at the beginning of the 90's when I first saw Renato Guttuso's Boogie-woogie hanging inside an Olivetti building in Ivrea. postato da: letiziajaccheri alle ore 18:44 | Permalink | commenti (1) categoria:art, information technology 19/10/2004 On my table after Matchmaking 2004 I have a lot of art related stuff which I want to keep, conserve, structure, communicate. I have participated to Trondheim Matchmaking (www.teks.no). I live in Trondheim. There is a little book on my table, titled "Elektronik kunst i offentlige rom". It is also available at http://www.notam02.no/ekunst_i_offentlige_rom/index.php. It is in Norwegian. It is about electronic art in public spaces in Norway. Norway is a rich country, the second rich country in the world, or the first. May be it is a priviledge place where to start a trip in the art and IT world? May be it is like my Tuscany at the time of the Medici family? I look for URL's in the book. www.pnek.no www.notam2.no www.anart.no www.bek.no The book is beautifull, good quality of paper and nice pictures. postato da: letiziajaccheri alle ore 20:07 | Permalink | commenti categoria:art, information technology, research 20/10/2004 EiT art and IT 2004 I am responsible for a EiT village at NTNU. At my home page (http://www.idi.ntnu.no/~letizia/) there is some information about the village run in 2004 and the plan for 2005. The documents produced by students are at http://www.idi.ntnu.no/~letizia/eit2005/eit2004Doc/ Interesting stuff here. I still not understand everything. And this is Norwegian, unfortunately. Today I want to take a trip in the dream well (Italian "pozzo dei desideri") which was realized by group 5. The group cooperated with Professor Kristin Berg aust from the Art Achademy and was inspired by her The group aimed at building an installation that demonstrates a meet between art and ICT. The installation will react to visitors participation. Reading the document takes me back to Firenze and 1400. Students write about Brunelleschi and his experiments with central perspective. I jump to Paul Cezanne (father of modernism). I read about the 60's and the possibilities of post-modernism (N a m Jun). I look my selv in the ‖Electronic Mirror‖ (1993) of the digital artist and architect Christian Möllers. And so hardware (CPU, sensors, Lego robots), software (linux, Python, Java), conversion from wav to vox, connection with Norwegian Telecom, I must take an extra travel in the software world of this installation. The final installation postato da: letiziajaccheri alle ore 09:13 | Permalink | commenti categoria:art, information technology 20/10/2004 The architecture of the dream The architecture of the dream well system is displayed at http://www.idi.ntnu.no/~letizia/blog/pozzo-archi.htm postato da: letiziajaccheri alle ore 10:43 | Permalink | commenti (2) categoria:art, information technology 21/10/2004 the well installation I think about the well installation. Why did they need the technology they needed? Did they use technology because they had to? Or technology was part of the idea? Mobile telephones and LEGO robots were used. Did they need both? postato da: letiziajaccheri alle ore 11:50 | Permalink | commenti categoria:art, information technology 21/10/2004 Jeremy Welsh I abandon for a while the dream well and try to tide up and structure my notes after the matchmaking. I have written "Jeremy Welsh". He is a known Norwegian artist. Did I meet him? I have seen and adimired several times the pictures/videos that are at the swimming pool in Trondheim (Pirbadet). postato da: letiziajaccheri alle ore 14:35 | Permalink | commenti categoria:art, information technology 26/10/2004 from Trondheim to Agrigento Friday 22nd October I left Trondheim to Oslo by train. At Gardemoen I take the plane to Pisa. For first time, I let my children experience one of the "lyddusjer". This is part of Karin Rynander Human in Motion project. postato da: letiziajaccheri alle ore 15:37 | Permalink | commenti (3) categoria:art, information technology 01/11/2004 upstage Today I visit http://upstage.org.nz:8081/. I have met Helen at Matchmaking. We have a common idea to propose a master thesis to study/support upstage. I also visit http://www.avatarbodycollision.org/, nice pictures, I did not understand yet the relationship between upstage and avatar. postato da: letiziajaccheri alle ore 13:08 | Permalink | commenti categoria:art, information technology 02/11/2004 live_life, Espen Gangvik Today I start again from http://teks.no to introduce live_life, Espen Gangvik. This was one of the project my students worked for last Spring. Now an evolution of one of the three products is at the Trøndelag senter for samtidskuns http://www.samtidskunst.no/introframe.html postato da: letiziajaccheri alle ore 09:03 | Permalink | commenti (2) categoria:art, information technology, research 04/11/2004 My visit to Pisa I visited professor Linda Pagli in Pisa. UpStage is a web-based venue and tool for artists to compile different digital media for textual and audiovisual communication into a live performance, in real time, for online audiences. It is open source software available at http://sourceforge.net/projects/upstage/. I plan to propose a master thesis that will have the goal of exploring the field of art and IT by studying, interacting, and improving UpStage. Possible research methods include interviews, participatory observations, devising & performing, software re-design and programming. postato da: letiziajaccheri alle ore 18:07 | Permalink | commenti (1) categoria:art, information technology 07/11/2004 Trøndelag senter for samtidskunst I was at the Trøndelag senter for samtidskunst today http://www.samtidskunst.no/introframe.html I am mainly concerned with Spinne by Beloff and Berger. Picture at http://www.idi.ntnu.no/~letizia/blog/beloffberger.jpg postato da: letiziajaccheri alle ore 19:22 | Permalink | commenti (1) categoria:art, information technology 07/11/2004 Spinne by Laura Beloff og Erich Berger Spinne takes the internet into the room by letting the four spiders react to four words (peace, war, terror, and negotiation) which they find on four URL's. One of these is the Norwegian Aftenposten. This is a good idea. I like and share the need to take IT into the room to let it be more visible and understandable, to invite people to discussion. postato da: letiziajaccheri alle ore 19:25 | Permalink | commenti categoria:art, information technology 09/11/2004 art and schools I will travel to Oslo tomorrow. I will have time to visit an exibition. Yes, but which? I try to find out and my attention now is captured by http://www.kunstiskolen.no/ It is in Norwegian. It is about art in schools. Art as a stimulus to think. There are interesting links to pedagogical stuff about art, like Gardner's Art through the Ages. postato da: letiziajaccheri alle ore 11:20 | Permalink | commenti categoria:art 09/11/2004 Kjell Bjørgeengen exibition in Oslo I think I will visit the museum for contemporary art (Museum for Samtidskunst) http://www.nasjonalmuseet.no/. There is an exibition by Kjell Bjørgeengen. postato da: letiziajaccheri alle ore 11:25 | Permalink | commenti categoria:art 11/11/2004 museum of contemporary art in Oslo I was at the museum of contemporary art yesterday, with A-H. B. It was simply fantastic. We admired the work of Italian Mario Merz, French Annette Messager, and Norwegian Kjell Bjørgeengen. Annette Messager reached my heart, with her installations made of toys, books, nets, pictures of women and men, words written on the wall. She does not impose any message to me, only a travel in a world of dear symbols. postato da: letiziajaccheri alle ore 12:47 | Permalink | commenti categoria:art 11/11/2004 Mario Merz postato da: letiziajaccheri alle ore 13:28 | Permalink | commenti categoria:art 11/11/2004 Annette Messager postato da: letiziajaccheri alle ore 13:35 | Permalink | commenti categoria:art 11/11/2004 Kjell Bjorgeengen postato da: letiziajaccheri alle ore 13:37 | Permalink | commenti (1) categoria:art 11/11/2004 neoscenes I take a virtual trip to http://neoscenes.net/travelog/weblog.php I met John here in Trondheim one month ago. He was organizing a wokshop in technology and art. John Hopkins's blog is 8 years old. He is a nomadic artist who uses to be an engineer. I am fascinated by the sample sounds. It contains sample sounds from Antwerp, Brussels, Cologne, Helsinki, New York City, and Riga http://tram-n-bus.uiah.fi/samples1.php. Each time technology represents reality I wonder, how can I know is it true? This comes from my research background.
