Stay Safe

Munich & Dresden are safe cities by international standards. As in any city, however, you should avoid walks day or night through deserted areas of the city or through unlit parks and always travel on foot or otherwise as a group consisting of at least 2 adults.

Getting cash

ATM use in Munich and Dresden is very common. However, we recommend bringing your credit cards and cash in Euros, as well as your debit card. Please do research before flying into Germany to determine if your credit and debit cards will be accepted.

Toilets

Many department stores and fast-food restaurants have clean toilets.

Health

Healthcare is generally of high quality, although you may have to face a long wait in emergency rooms. How fast you get to see the doctor is dependent on how ill you are and if others are sicker.

Tap water

The tap water in Munich and Dresden is of very high quality. There is no reason for buying bottled water. It is also completely accepted to ask for tap water in restaurants.

Dresden, located in the East of Germany, is also called "Florence at the Elbe", thanks to its idyllic location on the banks of the Elbe River, biergartens and its excellent examples of architecture and world-class museums. Although 80% of Dresden’s historic center was destroyed in World War II, all important landmarks have been rebuilt to their former splendour.

Furthermore, since German reunification in 1990 Dresden is again a major European cultural, educational and political centre. The economy of Dresden is one of the most high tech and dynamic in Germany. from its educational institutions, the city is often referred to as “Silicon Saxony”. It is also one of the most visited cities in Germany with 4.3 million overnight stays per year. The royal buildings are among the most impressive buildings in Europe.

Kingdom of Saxony Royal Palace, Churches and Museums… Dresden became a city in 1206 and celebrated its 810th birthday in 2016. It was home to many Saxon princes and kings, with strong ties to royalty throughout Europe.
