At Bronx Community College, students enjoy an advantage we call the BCC Value: classes that lead to important and exciting careers; a support system that guides students from their first day on campus to the day they graduate; and low costs and financial aid that make higher education possible on any budget. Our students continue to benefit from the BCC Value even after they graduate. The average income at the career midpoint of someone with an associate degree in the area served by BCC is 35% more than a student with a high school diploma. The added income in the workforce attributable to the accumulation of BCC credits amounts to $175.5 million each year. And the larger community is also served by the BCC Value: the higher earnings of BCC students expand the tax base in New York State by $120.4 million annually. The facts and figures that follow are a portrait of the BCC Value, an educational experience that pays off for a lifetime. Debt-Free/Economic Value 1Our students’ wealth can be found in their hearts and minds, not in their wallets. At Bronx Community College, we believe that no one who aspires to a higher education and is willing to do the work it requires should have their dream denied. Our tuition is affordable to begin with — add to that the many opportunities for financial aid, scholarships and awards, and BCC graduates leave our gates laden with knowledge but not overwhelming debt. Enrolled Students • Three-quarters (72%) of BCC students receive some form of financial aid • The average amount of financial aid awarded to a BCC student is $6,052

5 2Enrollment/Diversity The BCC campus is as richly diverse as the community it serves. The composition of our students, faculty and staff reflects a fundamental commitment to diversity not only as an act of social justice but as an essential and exciting element of a complete education that prepares those who receive it to be citizens of the world. A Hispanic Serving Institute, BCC ranks 5th in all of New York State in both enrollment of and earned degrees or certificates by Latinx students. Our president, Dr. Thomas A. Isekenegbe, is himself representative of this inclusive understanding of America. He is the first African-born president of a CUNY college and, like more than half of the BCC student body, he is the first in his family to go to college. 9 3Student Highlights/Awards Nothing makes the case for BCC more memorably than the many success stories of our students. We take tremendous pride in them all. Among our more notable alums are novelist and former Surgeon General and U.S. Senate candidate Richard Carmona. Our recent stars include the six 2020 winners of Kaplan Leadership Scholarships; Obed Gyedu Larbi, now attending Yale University on a full seven- year scholarship; and Bright Tsagli, one of the 61 scholars nationwide selected to receive the Jack Kent Cooke Transfer Scholarship, who is now a student at Brown. They and the many like them are powerful examples of what can be accomplished by those who take full advantage of the BCC Value. 15 The BCC Advantage

Bronx5 Community College is not just committed to education for all — the ultimate goal is graduation for all. Key to that mission is Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP) and other academic support services; programs that lead directly to careers or further education in exciting and expanding fields; symposiums and other educational opportunities that emphasize social justice; and a culturally rich campus environment. That advantage is recognized by others. Mostly recently, BCC was rated second among all New York State community college by AcademicInfluence.com based on factors like test scores and tuition. Meanwhile, RNCareers.org ranked our registered nurse program as 34th in all of New York State — and Number One in the Bronx. Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP) ASAP provides comprehensive support for BCC students from the day they enter with hopes to the day they leave with diplomas. ASAP is a CUNY-wide initiative that has had spectacular success at BCC. Moreover, BCC recently completed a three-year expansion of the program so that it reaches more students than ever. ASAP students graduate in three years at almost double the rate of their BCC peers. All BCC students benefit from the college redesign that accompanied ASAP enrichment and expansion. The cornucopia of benefits enjoyed by ASAP students include:
