Mr. Bellino beat the Monroe City Rockwood city Clerk/Treasure Michelle LaVoy of Monroe, who received Sumpter township 45.4 pe rcent of the vote. Democrats invested heavily here, but it appeared to make no difference.

MIRS Analysis (November 6, 20-18): Monroe Clerk- Treasurer Michelle LaVOY turned the contest for this district into a real race against incumbent Rep. Joseph BELLINO (R-Monroe). For one, unions weren't convinced he's on their side by his no vote on the prevailing wage repeal. And other Democrats have done well in this blue-collar district that leans only slight to the R side. Belllino held his own, 56 to 44 percent. 19 th Wayne (D-Livonia) First Wayne County (part) Member, Health Policy Committee Livonia city (part)

Gongwer Analysis (November 6, 2018): This Livonia race saw ballots being counted until almost 5 a.m. and Laurie Pohutsky of Livonia pulled it off with 23,457 votes, just 221 votes more than Livonia City Councilmember Brian Meakin. That flips the seat now held by Rep. Laura Cox (R-Livonia).

MIRS Analysis (November 6, 2018): While votes were still being counted at 5 a.m. it appears that Democrat Laurie POHUTSKY won by 92 votes, despite the fact she was accused by the GOP of wanting to pay reparations for manifest destiny and aiming to end free enterprise. The attack video gambit didn't work. Pohutsky appeared to be squeaking by with the district, now held by Rep. Laura [COX] (R -Livonia). 20 th Wayne (D-Plymouth Township) First Wayne County (part) Assistant Minority Leader Canton Township Member, Health Policy Committee Northville city Northville Township GOP Base = 53.28% Plymouth city Plymouth Township English and Social Studies public school teacher

Gongwer Analysis (November 6, 2018): Democrat Matt Koleszar of Plymouth beat incumbent Rep. Jeff Noble (R- Northville) 52.7 percent to 47.3 percent. This result was expected.

MIRS Analysis (November 6, 2018): Democrat Matt KOLESZAR won this Plymouth district, dumping out incumbent Rep. Jeff NOBLE (R-Plymouth) in a district that trends Republican. Nonetheless, Koleszar's background as a public-school teacher gave him a position from which to make an issue of the GOP's coziness with Betsy DeVOS. And the best the Republicans could come up with against him was a claim he wanted to end free enterprise. At 5 a.m., and with 19 precincts in Wayne County still outstanding, Koleszar was winning 53 percent to 47 percent. 21 st Wayne Kristy Pagan (D-Canton) Third Wayne County (part) Belleville city (part) Democratic Base = 56.07% Canton Township (part) Van Buren Township (part) During 2017-2018 session, she voted against Mayor Duggan’s “Driver’s Choice” auto no-fault plan, Small business owne r 23 rd Wayne (D-Brownstown Township) Second Wayne County (part) Minority Whip Brownstown township Gibraltar city GOP Base = 52.55% Grosse Ile township Huron township During 2017-2018 session, he voted against Mayor Trenton city Duggan’s “Driver’s Choice” auto no-fault plan Woodhaven city

Gongwer Analysis (November 6, 2018): Rep, Kathy Crawford (R-Novi) pulled off a narrow victory over Democratic challenger Kelly Breen, a Novi City Councilmember. Ms. Crawford won by 591 votes. Ms. Breen's strength in Novi was outweighed by Lyon Township and other communities.

MIRS Analysis (November 6, 2018): Here's another district that Republicans should not have had to defend, but the GOP put $456,000 to keep Rep. Kathy CRAWFORD (R-Novi) in her seat and keep Democrat Kelly BREEN from snatching it away. MIRS Analysis (November 6, 2018): Democrat Mari MANOOGIAN seemed to have this race sewn up from the start. A soft Republican district now held by Rep. Gongwer Analysis (November 6, 2018): Rep. Brandt Iden (R-Oshtemo Township) won re-election with a 1,284-vote margin over Democrat Alberta Griffin of Texas Township in the 61st House District. It is the third time Democrats have spent big trying to defeat Mr. Iden and come up a little short.

MIRS Analysis (November 6, 2018): This may well have been the state's most expensive House contest this year. Alberta GRIFFIN was the state's top fundraising Democrat after the primary, pulling in $163,501. Incumbent Rep. Brandt IDEN (R-Oshtemo Twp.) was the highest raising Republican in the same time period, 79,845. Then caucus PACs put additional money behind these two, Republicans spending $263,454 on behalf of Iden and Dems putting $73,720 behind Griffin. That’s because this district leans only slightly in favor of the Republicans, an edge that could easily evaporate in the year of the blue wave and the year of the woman.
