Linux: Support of SLES 9 and RHEL 4

Windows: 64 Bit JDK 1.4.2 meanwhile available (SAP note 941595) Oracle 9.2 available as 32 Bit version only 64 Bit Support started with Ora 10.2.0.2 in May 2006

© SAP AG 2002, Oracle Integration at SAP, Dr. Christian Graf 4 Future Windows & Linux 32 Bit support

For SAP Product versions released in 2007 and later (7.10 kernel), SAP will support productive use of server components for Windows and Linux only on 64 Bit.

This does not affect commitment to continue support for solutions up to SAP NetWeaver 2004s and applications on top. For existing installations, SAP will continue its 32 Bit support under the respective maintenance and support agreements.

SAP Product versions released before 2007 are not affected by this announcement.

Components used by endusers like SAPGUI or SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio, which run on Desktop-PCs, will still be provided as a 32 Bit version.

Corresponding customer letter went out on April 8th.

For SAP product versions released in 2007 and later, the installation of new systems will be possible only with Unicode support enabled.

Existing Single-codepage Non-Unicode installations can be upgraded to these product versions without requiring a Unicode migration, system copy will be possible as well.

Corresponding customer letter went out on April 8th.

Oracle 10g @ SAP

BR*Tools Oracle 10g certification for 3.x & 4.x kernels

SAP Releases 31I, 40B, 45B and 46B will not generally be certified with Oracle 10g. Using Oracle 10.2 on the start release during an upgrade to a SAP product that requires Oracle 10.2 (e.g. NW2004s) is allowed! See OSS note 819655. Limitations in database monitors (e.g. ST04) and system copy.

SAP products based on the 4.6D_EXT kernel which are at least in SAP Extended Maintenance beyond 2006 will be certified for Oracle 10.2 until end of June 2006. E.g. R/3 46C SR2, APO 3.10, … see OSS note 940794

© SAP AG 2002, Oracle Integration at SAP, Dr. Christian Graf 13 Oracle 10g certification for 6.40 kernel

SAP products based on the 6.40 kernel which are at least in SAP Extended Maintenance beyond 2006 are already certified for Oracle 10.2. E.g. R/3 Enterprise 47 SR1, SAP NetWeaver 2004 SR1, ERP 2004, … See OSS note 940794 for more details

However, there are delays on some OS platforms: Linux IA64 End May 2006 HPUX IA64 End May 2006 HP Tru64 July 2006

© SAP AG 2002, Oracle Integration at SAP, Dr. Christian Graf 14 Oracle 10g certification for the 7.00 kernel

SAP NetWeaver 2004s and SAP Business Suite 2005

In General

SAP NetWeaver 2004s & SAP Business Suite 2005 are only released on the basis of Oracle version 10g (10.1/10.2).

Oracle 9.2 is definitely no option (will never be)!

Keep in mind: Customer Care Support for Oracle 9.2 ends 7/2007! See HotNews note 925871.

SAP NetWeaver 2004s and SAP Business Suite 2005

Ramp-Up

The Ramp-Up is/was carried out on the basis of Oracle Version 10.1.0.4.

The use of Oracle version 10.1.0.4 is supported for productive SAP systems.

Oracle 10.2 will not be supported for the RTC release!

SAP NetWeaver 2004s and SAP Business Suite 2005

Support Release 1

The Support Release 1 (SR1) of SAP NetWeaver 2004s was released on April 10th, 2006. Only Oracle Version 10.2 as of Patch Set 10.2.0.2 is certified for this release.

Delays on some OS platforms: Linux IA64 End May 2006 HPUX IA64 End May 2006 Solaris x64 June 2006

The Support Release 1 (SR1) of SAP Business Suite 2005 is scheduled for June 6th, 2006. Here as well only Oracle Version 10.2 as of Patch Set 10.2.0.2 will be certified.

Platform delays are currently not expected!

SAP NetWeaver 2004s and SAP Business Suite 2005

What about Ramp-Up Customers who started with Oracle 10.1?

If a customer makes a fresh install on SR1 or upgrades to SR1 he/she must use Oracle 10.2.

If customers start with the RTC release (on Oracle 10.1) and move up with SAP Support Packages Stacks (SPS) they can upgrade to Oracle 10.2 as soon as they reach SPS 06. SR1 is build on SPS 06. However, they can remain on 10.1 as well.

Below SPS 06 Oracle 10.2 is not supported!

For SPS >= 06 we will come up with a DB upgrade recommendation as soon as Oracle 10.2.0.x has customer proven stability in SAP environments.

At least we will wait until the Oracle patch set 10.2.0.3 is available (~Q3/2006) before we consider to strongly recommend the upgrade from 10.1 to 10.2.

Oracle RAC 10g

Oracle 10g RAC will not be immediately certified

10g RAC pilot projects are ongoing

Oracle 10g RAC certification is planned during Q3/2006

Only Oracle version 10.2 will be certified
