Back in the day... Before the East Wahroonga Shopping Centre there was a “Corner Store”. This corner store actually achieved a wider range of goods and services to its immediate vicinity than most modern-day suburban shopping centres. These included: agricultural tools, fertiliser, commercial sprinkler systems, pipework and control valves for the orchard & market- gardening industry that proliferated this area, stationery supplies for schoolchildren including school shoes and socks, baby toys, cloth nappies, lollies, biscuits, milk-shakes and soft-drinks, frozen meats, canned food, bottled preserves/jams, home-delivery of weekly groceries, kerosene, household plumbing taps and washers, lightbulbs, haberdashery, magazines and newspapers (also delivered to your front fence). This was also the place for banking and post office facilities. Corner stores supplied the lot!

THE first significant landowner in Wahroonga was Thomas Pinn- ick Hyndes (1778-1855), a former convict who was granted a condi- tional pardon in 1808 on account of his good behaviour. By 1814, Hyndes was employed as a clerk in a lumber yard, where he gradually climbed the ranks and amassed a considerable for- tune as timber merchant, miller and landowner. In 1822, as master sawyer at Castlereagh Street and employ- er of nearly 30 men, Hyndes was granted 2000 acres of land in pres- ent-day Wahroonga. The history of Wahroonga after European settlement is similar to the rest of Hornsby Ku-ring-gai. THE TUTOR DOCTOR DIFFERENCE Helping local students succeed

After helping over 2,00,000 students worldwide in the last 15 years, Tutor Doctor launches its operation in Hornsby Shire region to make a difference in students' lives.

We provide personalised tutoring for all grades and subjects—including special needs, adult, and veteran tutoring. We want our students to succeed whether you're a teenager trying to get the math skills to the next level or a young child working on the reading skills or an adult trying to learn a new language.

We are not just a tutoring company but also a support system for the family who needs child education support. We understand family dynamics and goals to provide services that will help students achieve academic success and make their parents at ease. Our system allows parents to be involved in their child education progress even with their busy schedule.

Our system also supports our tutors in avoiding ad-hoc work and focusing on what they do best - helping students build confidence, close academic gaps, and succeed.

By engaging parents, students, tutors, and teachers, we get students to reach their goal much faster.
