The Darjeeling Limited Visas Den 28/4 2008 the Darjeeling Limited The Darjeeling Limited Visas den 28/4 2008 The Darjeeling Limited Produktionsinfo Filmografi, urval: Regi: Wes Anderson 2007 Hotel Chevalier Manus: Wes Anderson, Roman Coppola 2007 The Darjeeling Limited Längd: 91 min 2009 Fantastic Mr. Fox Produktionsland: US 2012 Cousin Ben Troop Screening with Premiär i Sverige: Jason Schwartzman Medverkande: Owen Wilson, Jason Schwartzman, Adrien Brody, Bill Murray, 2012 Moonrise Kingdom Anjelica Huston, Camilla Rutherford, Wallace Wolodarsky, Natalie 2013 Castello Cavalcanti Portman, Amara Karan, Waris Ahluwalia, Irrfan Khan, Barbet 2013 Prada: Candy Schroeder, Kumar Pallana 2014 The Grand Budapest Hotel Om regissören Wes Anderson Wes Andersons genombrosfilm heter ”Rushmore” och året var 1998, men som så många andra regissörer hade han redan mycket tidigare givit sig i kast med filmandet. Därefter kom filmer som Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic och kvällens film The Darjeeling Limited, som således är hans femte film. • Touching Textures Through the Screen: a Cinematic Investigation of the Contemporary Fashion Film
Touching Textures Through the Screen: A Cinematic Investigation of the Contemporary Fashion Film Name: Simone Houg Supervisor: Dr. M.A.M.B Baronian Student Number: Second Reader: Dr. F.J.J.W. Paalman Address: University of Amsterdam Master Thesis Film Studies Phone Number: 26 June 2015 Email: [email protected] Word Count: 23709 2 Abstract The contemporary fashion film emerged at the beginning of this century and has enabled fashion and film to enter into an equivalent relationship. This symbiotic relationship goes back to the emergence of both disciplines at the beginning of the twentieth century. The fashion film is a relatively new phenomenon that is presented on the Internet as a short film, made by fashion designers and fashion houses that optionally collaborate with well-known filmmakers. The fashion film expresses itself in many forms and through many different styles and characteristics, which makes it hard to grasp. In the case studies on the fashion films commissioned by Dior, Prada, Hussein Chalayan and Maison Margiela, concepts such as colour, movement and haptic visuality are investigated, in order to demonstrate that by focusing on the fashion films' similar use of these cinematic techniques, a definition of the fashion film can be constituted. The fashion film moves in our contemporary society; a society that is focused on ideas of progress, increased mobility and other concepts that characterise a culture of modernity. These concepts evoke feelings of nostalgia and the fashion film responds to this by immersing the spectator into a magical, fictionalised world full of desired garments, objects and settings. The ‘aura’ that surrounds the fashion brand is expressed by letting the viewer fully participate in this fashioned world.

  • Postnormal Imaginings in Wes Anderson's the Darjeeling Limited
Postnormal Imaginings in Wes Anderson’s The Darjeeling Limited Perpetuating Orientalist and neocolonial representations, biases, and stereotypes as pretentious comedy is the new creed of the American New Wave Movement JOHN A. SWEENEY THE HISTORY OF THE INDIAN RAILWAY SYSTEM PRESENTS A FABLE SOME 150 YEARS old—one that helped to defne the very topography of the sub-continent and its people. Emphasizing the lasting impact of trains on India, Srinivasan observes, “Railways made India a working and recognizable structure and political and economic entity, at a time when many other forces militated against unity. Through their own internal logic, their transformation of speed and the new dynamic of the economic changes they made possible, the railways defnitively altered the Indian way of life” (Srinivasan, 2006, pxiii). While assisting in the alteration of identities, Indian railways simultaneously united and partitioned the sub-continent on a seemingly unimaginable scale. “If you dug up all the rail track in India and laid it along the equator,” writes Reeves, “you could ride around the world one-and-a- half times.” This enormous enterprise, which occurred when the idea of “India” as an integrated political unit “remained very much an imaginary notion,” originated as the fanciful legacy of British rule, which sought a material means to coalesce its occupation (Reeves, 2006, pxiii). The railway was both the cause and efect of Britain’s colonial sovereignty; the very “idea of establishing and expanding a railway system in India ofered the most vibrant excitement in colonial mind” (Iqbal, 2006, p173). The vast colonial East-West Afairs 75 project was “the work of the capitalist interest in Britain” but it “fourished and expanded frst on ground which was essentially ‘mental’” (Iqbal, 2006, p183).
