Topic :- Respect to Statues as they inspire

Statues can teach us about history, but they do not convey some immutable truth from from the past. Instead, they are symbolic of the fixed ideas of a specific community regarding it’s past , as captured particular point in time. It is a belief the first sculptures evolved such that by the start of civilization, peoples used them as a representation of gods.

1. 68 years ago, our nation lost the most prominent Indian to have walked the face of this planet. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was not just a freedom fighter. A man who became known as the father of an entire nation, Gandhi was and remains an inspiration to the world. A preacher of truth and non-violence, Gandhi gained recognition across the globe for his sayings, his actions, his life. His pivotal role in the Indian independence struggle makes him one of the most important personalities in the world. It is therefore not surprising that people from several nations look up to him, respect him and build monuments in his honor. On 30th January 2021 we remember Bapu on his 68th death anniversary, we take you on a pictorial journey of statues of the Mahatma across the world.

The is a colossal statue of Indian statesman and independence activist Vallabhbhai Patel (1875–1950), who was the first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of independent and an adherent of Mahatma Gandhi duringthe nonviolent Indian Independence movement. Patel was highly respected for his leadership in uniting 562 princely states of India with a major part of the former British Raj to form the single Union of India. The statue is located in the state of , India. It is the world's tallest statue with a height of 182 metres (597 feet).[3] It is located on the Narmada River in the Kevadiya colony, facing the 100 kilometres (62 mi) southeast of the city of Vadodara and 150 kilometres (93 mi) from Surat. Kevadia railway station is located at a distance of just 5 kilometres from Statue of Unity. The project was first announced in 2010 and the construction of the statue started in October 2013 by Larsen & Toubro, with a total construction cost of ₹2700crore (₹27billion; US$422 million).[ It was designed by Indian sculptor Ram V. Sutar, and was inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 31 October 2018, the 143rd anniversary of Sardar Patel's birth.

3. Murudeshwara is a town in Bhatkal Taluk of Uttara Kannada district in the state of Karnataka, India. The town is located 13 km from the taluk headquarters of Bhatkal. Murudeshwara is famous for the world's second tallest Shiva statue, the town lies on the coast of the Arabian Sea and is also famous for the Murudeshwara Temple. Murudeshwara has a railway station on the Mangaluru-Mumbai Konkan railway route.
