SUBMITTED PHOTO Fairhope Mayor Karin Wilson and the city council commended Ecumenical Minis- tries, Inc for 50 years of service during its May 13 regular meeting. The historic resolution also established the last Sunday in January as Ecumenical Ministries Day “in perpetuity.” During its 50 years, EMI has helped more than 96,000 people, delivered half a million low-cost meals, made safety or sustainability repairs to nearly 500 homes, and led initiatives that paved roads in low income communi- ties, lowered homeowners insurance costs and cleaned up rural drinking water. The non-profit agency, which takes no federal funds, is supported by churches, SUBMITTED PHOTOS business and individuals. It plans a series of events to celebrate its 50th year.
