Iggy Pop - Lust for Life . Day In Rock Reports This film is relatively short at forty-one minutes but it makes up for the brevity with very • Boyband Star interesting content. The footage was shot for Dutch television in 1986 and includes Arrested For performances of "Lust for Life," "TV Eye," "China Girl" and "Real Wild Child ." Iggy is in a Drunken Public good mood and animated as he explains how noise from his father's electric razor and a Nakedness- Ozzfest To giant metal press inspired his early music and what he learned much later from being on Return- Rock David Bowie's tour to support Station to Station . Pop also talks about the Prime Movers and Star: Supernova the Iguanas, groups he was in before the formation of the Stooges. Late Stooges guitarist Ron Asheton is also featured prominently in the interview Time Warp On footage and he leads the camera to the house in Michigan where the Stooges once lived TV- - more and notoriously took copious amounts of LSD. • 04/23: Motley Iron Butterfly - Concert and Documentary Europe 1997 Crue Want American Idol Theme Show- Most people know Iron Butterfly only by their one hit---the lengthy and cryptic psychedelic Beyonce's Vocal bombast of "In A Gadda Da Vida." Even back in the group's heyday in the late '60s people Talent Called Into primarily went to see Iron Butterfly concerts to hear that one song and consequently it was Question- always performed at the end of the set. The same is true for this 1997 show where the Underoath Slams crowd has to sit through snoozers like "Silent Screaming" and "Flowers and Beads" before Avenged getting to the seventeen-minute take on "In A Gadda Da Vida" complete with the extended Sevenfold as a drum solo. The group generally doesn't have a lot of stage presence so much of this film Gimmick Band compensates with an overlay of psychedelic effects. and more .• 04/22: Music Jon Anderson - Tour of the Universe Legend Escapes House Fire- Red This film is a bit unusual in that the concert that it documents was actually performed for Hot Van Hagar satellite radio. It is also a one-man show, just Anderson and his guitars (and occasionally Supergroup piano) so there is not a lot of action or play to the cameras . To make up for that the footage Chickenfoot Tour of each song is embellished in some way; with animation, stop-action photography, Sells Out- psychedelic effects and quirky overlays. Some of the visuals are very stimulating while Lollapalooza 09 others are nothing spectacular; Anderson's voice lilting out of the Surround Sound on the Announced- other hand will be satisfying to Yes fans as he performs chestnuts like "Your Move," "Yours Eminem Reveals Drug Inspired Is No Disgrace," "Long Distance Runaround" and songs from his body of work with Album Art and Vangelis. Interview segments feature Anderson talking about his spiritual beliefs and more something called The Golden Mean. • 04/21: Jane's Frank Zappa And The Mothers Of Invention - In The 1960s Addiction Reunion Marred This is not a performance film but rather a documentary of the group's early years. There By Feuds- Green are lots of snippets of vintage footage but no commentary from the late guitarist and Day Tour Plans- composer. Several surviving Mothers do comment though including Art Tripp, Bunk Gardner Live Nirvana Your Ad Here for Just $10 and Don Preston. The most interesting commentary comes from former Mothers drummer DVD Coming- 8,000 AC/DC Jimmy Carl Black, his hang-dog looks and earthy manner of speaking adding to his often Fans Scammed- funny reminiscences. This one is for hard-core students of Zappa and rock historians only. Bush is notoriously press-shy . News Quicks so there is not a lot of footage out there to be had even if this film had of been produced with the blessing of the artist or her label (it was not.) As the counterculture marched for equal rights and against the war in Vietnam, a sonic revolution was occurring in the recording studio and on the concert stage. New sounds were being created through multitrack recording techniques, and record producers such as Phil Spector and George Martin became integral parts of the creative process. Musicians expanded their sonic palette by experimenting with the sounds of sitar, and through sound-modifying electronic ef- fects such as the wah-wah pedal, fuzz tone, and the Echoplex tape-de- lay unit, as well as a variety of new electronic keyboard instruments and synthesizers. The sound of every musical instrument contributed toward the overall sound of a performance or recording, and bands were begin- ning to expand beyond the core of drums, bass, and a couple guitars.

If there was a viable channel in which to personify this description, then Jason Newsted would surely be one of its embodiments. A six-time Grammy winner, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame artist, Newsted—also known as “Jasonic”—is the former bassist of the band that arguably bred the metal genre—Metallica. From 1986 to 2001, Newsted forged his name in the annals of rock history with his beefy, fast-paced, and at times, nostalgic bass lines, as Metallica took the world by storm.     The Gaslight Anthem The Gaslight Anthem. Kommen. Auf Tour. Zu uns. Müssen wir mehr sagen? Eigentlich nicht. Doch eines noch: Am 18 April schrieb die Band auf ihrer Facebook-Seite: „And today we recorded the very last note on our new record...“ Das heißt: Brian Fallon und seine Jungs gehen mit neuen Stücken auf die Reise. Mittlerweile ist durchgesickert, dass das neue Album mit dem Titel „Get Hurt“ am …. August erscheinen wird. Also bleibt genug Zeit um sich die nötige Textsicherheit für die anstehenden Konzerte anzueignen. Zuletzt war es ja etwas ruhiger geworden um das Quartett – im Januar erschienen mit der Compilation „The B-Sides“ und der „Live In London“-DVD (mit dem The-Clash-Cover-Cover) zwei Werke, die sich auf die Vergangenheit bezogen haben. Dieser Rückzug aus der Öffentlichkeit war durchaus geplant, denn Fallon hat sich ganz aus den Medien zurückgezogen, um sich voll auf die Produktion des Nachfolgers von „Handwritten“ zu konzentrieren – und sich Gedanken zu machen über The Gaslight Anthem. Im vergangenen Jahr schrieb er einen nachdenklichen Brief an die Fans. Er wolle nicht mehr wie in der Vergangenheit mit anderen Musikern verglichen werden: „My name isn’t Bruce, it’s not Eddie, or Joe, or Paul either.“ Genauso wenig können die Fans erwarten, dass die Jungs immer wieder das gleiche Konzert spielen. Das sei nicht ehrlich, eine Band entwickle sich, die Band sei nicht mehr dieselbe wie vor zehn Jahren, und jeder Abend ist ein anderer Abend. Was Fallon aber versprach: Dass das kommende Album zu 100 Prozent The Gaslight Anthem ist, dass auf der Bühne immer Menschen stehen werden, die alles geben.
