Rated 3 out of 5 by Kaliarii from Great game, with one major catch I thoroughly enjoyed Escape from Pompeii. It was moderately challenging, with a great deal of variety, from hidden objects that you actually use within the scene, to finding the difference between two similar scenes, to logic puzzles. The ride's fire elements were installed by the same company that made the fire elements for the movie Backdraft. Guests enter the queuing area near the back of the structure of the ride, where they pass a ruined structure with "Pompeii" written on it, with graffiti-lime "Escape From" written above the sign. Guests then walk under the final chute to the ride, where they wind past evidence of the Pompeii disaster and past billboards of an archaeological exploration of the ruins. They continue to a covered structure where boats pass the queue, and statues and columns stand crumbling in water next to the queue. Guests then are placed in rows to board the boats. The boat makes a small drop into the main ride building, where they pass by an abandoned archaeological site and crumbling structures as tense music begins to play. The boat passes under crumbling walls where wooden beams break apart and fall into the water to the side of the boat. The boat floats past the ruins into a room full of crumbling statues and structures standing among the water. Here, real fire begins to spread throughout the room - overhead, on top of the statues, and over the water as dramatic music begins to play. The boat continues through the fiery room, past burning columns and statues. As the boat exits the room, they pass a large statue of , which also catches fire. The boat then passes under a crumbling wooden structure as ripples of fire burn on the ceiling. A dark room leads the boat past more crumbling structures and directly under a statue, which falls right over top of the boat, but the fall is stopped by a slightly concealed pillar to the right. The boat continues, where the music picks up dramatically, into the dark room, with fog and more ruins and statues. The boat then advances to where a door blows open and allow guests to see outside of the ride just before plunging down the Create an account. Subscribe now. In this non-fiction resource, your class will learn some key facts and information about Pompeii as well as focusing in on past and present tense. The resource uses a range of verbs in the past tense and your children must identify those words and then write the present tense. The vocabulary used is challenging at times and the resource has been differentiated to allow children to start at different levels to ensure they complete the task. This resource allows your class to explore volcanoes more and learn a bit more about the key vocabulary and terms associated. The questions in this comprehension will challenge your KS2 class. There are five different levels of differentiation and a range of questions. This is a great resource to help your children identify and add in the inverted commas for dialogue use between Tranio and Livia. Your KS2 children will use a few paragraphs from the story and determine who is talking and where the inverted commas should go. There are six different variations of this guided reading activity to help with those children that are starting at different points. All children will complete the same text, although some may have a reduced amount. A few of the pictures have been included in the resource above for an activity to support the video resource. Allow the children to watch once through and then during the second time, allow them to create descriptions, dialogue between the people etc. Play Now Download the free trial This game will not work on your operating system. The soundtrack didn't get on my nerves - a fairly rare occurrence with most casual games for me. This game warrants a solid 4, if not 5 stars. So why only 3? Two reasons, actually. One, from what I can tell, this game leaves on a that never really gets explained in the sequel, though this detail I could have lived with. The real issue for me was my saved game. It was non-existent. There wasn't any way to save manually, and upon further "research" through the forum, I discovered my problem: I'm running Windows 7. It would seem that anything more recent than Windows XP will not hold the saved game. There doesn't seem to be a fix for this, at least not one I could find; hence, the 3 star rating. I got around this by simply minimizing the game whenever I needed a break, and just re-maximizing the window when I was ready to play again, but it would've been nice to be able to actually close out the game. That being said, I'd highly recommend taking this one for a spin, particularly if you don't mind sitting all the way through a game this one's a perfect length - you probably won't beat it in an hour or even two, particularly if you are solving puzzles on your own and watching the cutscenes, but it won't take weeks of playing for hours and hours straight either , or if you are running XP or earlier. This is a fairly easy game and would be very short for an experienced hogger. I would recommend it for a beginner, which I was when I bought and played it the first time. It would be a bit more challenging for an inexperienced hogger but they won't be tearing their hair out. Storyline: Not the greatest. Gameplay is straightforward. Specific tasks are shown In the lower right corner and it is easiest to do the tasks in order. Puzzles and mini-games are varied and relatively easy; graphics are good. Hint system recharges very quickly. Text labels items you scroll over. The scene is the same, but adjusted for time. You will do actions in either time period which will directly have an effect on the other. Ending: satisfactory. Rated 3 out of 5 by pennmom36 from Time Travel I actually thought this game was way more interesting than the last Alabama. You are the best student of archaeology at the University of Yale and the Dean sends you to the University of Naples for the summer. Your quest is to find an amulet that was believed to be used for time travel but was last seen before the volcanic eruption in Pompeii. Escape From Pompeii
