3 TAFC Directors’ Notes

A warm welcome to our opponents Barton Town Old Boys Next Saturday, we travel to 9th placed Pickering Town, which who have travelled here today from North . promises to be another excellent game. Our former manager Barton are once again enjoying a solid season in the NCEL Paul Marshall is having a strong season with the Pikes and Premier and come here today following a well-fought 4-3 there are a whole host of familiar faces within the Pickering defeat to Handsworth Parramore midweek. Though currently squad, which is sure to make it a hotly contested game. Please lying in 10th position, the Swans will have their sights firmly set keep an eye on our website and social media for matchday on getting back into the upper echelons of the NCEL Premier, travel information. and like every one of our past meetings, we will have to fight hard to win maximum points. We hope you enjoy this afternoon’s game. Let’s hope we can quickly return to winning ways. The reverse fixture back in September was a very entertaining game, but unfortunately we lost the game 4-3 after a late The i2i Sports Directors penalty miss denied us a point. Hopefully today’s match will be Matt Gore, James Gore & Kent Mayall equally entertaining, but with a better outcome for the Brewers!

Thanks to everyone who attended the funeral of our extremely popular barmaid Sonny Lang on Thursday. I’m sure you will agree it was a very emotional day, but it was lovely to be able to celebrate Sonny’s life with those that loved her the most. We were delighted that so many Tadcaster Albion players took time off work to attend the service. We often talk about us being a “family club”, but the sense of togetherness which has been felt in these past few weeks has been unbelievable. It really is testament to the many great people involved in this football club.

A memorial board will be placed on Sonny’s Bridge next week, so that all those crossing over the Wharfe will see her happy smiling face each day. We will also be naming our new bar area “Sonny’s Bar” to allow her memory to live on within the club and the town.

We were disappointed with Wednesday night’s 2-1 defeat away to Staveley Miners Welfare, though we appreciate that no team can win every single game. If you’d told us at Christmas that we would go on to win our next seven games, we would have been delighted. So it’s important that the Memorial Board for Sonny’s Bridge players don’t get too disheartened. Today is a new day and a great chance for the team to get back to winning ways.
