SPEAKERS' BIOGRAPHIES

Azhar Azeez, ISNA President, holds a Bachelor?s of Finance degree from the prestigious Osmania University and a Master?s of Business Administration (MBA) degree. He currently serves as the Senior National Director of Islamic Relief USA. He is a member of ISNA Executive Council since 2002, served as the Vice President of ISNA twice from 2010-2014. He was elected as the President of ISNA in 2014 and was re-elected to his second term in 2016.

Zahra Billoo is the executive director of CAIR San Francisco Bay Area. In her work at CAIR, she frequently provides trainings at and universities as part of CAIR?s efforts to empower the community on civil rights issues. She is a 2014 recipient of the National Lawyers Guild SF Bay Area Chapter's Unsung Hero Award and a 2013 recipient of the South Asian Bar Association of Northern 's Trailblazer Award. Zahra graduated Cum Laude from CSU Long Beach with degrees in Human Resources Management and Political Science. She earned her JD from UC Hastings College of Law, and is licensed to practice law in California.

Yassir Fazaga, originally from Eritrea, holds a BS in Islamic Studies from the Imam Saud University and an MS in Marriage and Family Therapy and is currently working on his second MS in Middle Eastern Studies at UT Austin. He was the director of mental health at Access California and the religious director of the Orange County Islamic Foundation. He is the founder and director of Tanweer Institute, an institute dedicated to enlightning the community in the areas of mental health, relationships and sexuality. Tanweerinstitute.com

Altaf Husain is a native of Cleveland, ; and a double alumnus of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, having earned his BS in biomedical engineering and his MS in social work. He received his PhD in social work from Howard University. He serves as the vice president of ISNA, member of the board of directors of MSA National, and an advisory board member of the Peaceful Families Project- dedicated to the prevention of domestic violence. He served as a two-term national president of the MSA and an executive committee member of the Muslim Alliance in North America.

Dawood Yasin is currently the Muslim Life and Service Trips Coordinator at the Tucker Foundation. Imam Dawood provides spiritual and religious support, and educational seminars at Dartmouth College. He teaches Arabic language in the summer at Zaytuna College. After Dawood converted he studied Arabic, Islam and spirituality in Damascus. Most recently, Dawood served as Director of Outreach at the Zayed Center for Islamic Culture in the United Arab Emirates, engaging in public speaking within U.A.E. and abroad, emphasizing ethics and tolerance between Muslim and non-Muslim communities.

Omar Husain was born and raised in Southern California, attended the University of at Chicago, on a tennis scholarship, and graduated with a degree in Information Sciences. After graduating, he travelled to Toronto, Canada where he studied the Arabic language and began studying the Islamic sciences. During this time, he was blessed to complete his memorization of the Quran. He studied Islamic studies and Arabic Language at Al-Azhar University, He has also translated the soon to be published masterpiece of Imam Jal?l ad-D?n Suy???, Al-Itq?n F? U?l?m al-Qur??n ?Towards Perfecting the Qur??nic Sciences.? He is currently the Religious Director at MCECC. Three Years in a Row!
