  • DOCTOR WHO LOGOPOLIS Christopher H. Bidmead Based On
DOCTOR WHO LOGOPOLIS Christopher H. Bidmead Based on the BBC television serial by Christopher H. Bidmead by arrangement with the British Broadcasting Corporation 1. Events cast shadows before them, but the huger shadows creep over us unseen. When some great circumstance, hovering somewhere in the future, is a catastrophe of incalculable consequence, you may not see the signs in the small happenings that go before. The Doctor did, however - vaguely. While the Doctor paced back and forth in the TARDIS cloister room trying to make some sense of the tangle of troublesome thoughts that had followed him from Traken, in a completely different sector of the Universe, in a place called Earth, one such small foreshadowing was already beginning to unfold. It was a simple thing. A policeman leaned his bicycle against a police box, took a key from the breast pocket of his uniform jacket and unlocked the little telephone door to make a phone call. Police Constable Donald Seagrave was in a jovial mood. The sun was shining, the bicycle was performing perfectly since its overhaul last Saturday afternoon, and now that the water-main flooding in Burney Street was repaired he was on his way home for tea, if that was all right with the Super. It seemed to be a bad line. Seagrave could hear his Superintendent at the far end saying, 'Speak up . Who's that . .?', but there was this whirring noise, and then a sort of chuffing and groaning . The baffled constable looked into the telephone, and then banged it on his helmet to try to improve the connection.

The September/October 2014 issue of FAA Safety Briefing focuses on the world of student pilots and airmen-in-training. As a continuation to our last student pilot-themed edition in 2012, this issue explores additional tips and resources to help provide a successful path to initial pilot certification, as well as provide a refresher to those more experienced aviators. Cover: Our cover is a tribute to the long-standing tradition of cutting and displaying a student’s shirt tail after a successful solo flight. The tradition harkens back to the days of tandem trainers, where instructors, seated behind their student, would tug on their student’s shirt tail to get their attention. Removing the shirt tail is thus regarded as a sign of an instructor’s confidence in the student’s flying abilities. 5 Features 5 Leave the Engine at Home Learning to Slow Down in Non-Mechanized Aircraft by James Williams 9 So You Want to Be a Pilot? Posted: Mon., Dec. 28, 2009, 8:00pm PT Adler, McCarthy engulfed in WWII 'Fog' Producers option sci-fi horror comicbook 'Night and Fog' By TATIANA SIEGEL Producers Gil Adler and Shane McCarthy have optioned the sci-fi horror comicbook "Night and Fog" from publisher Studio 407. No stranger to comicbook-based material, Adler has produced such graphic-based fare as "Constantine," "Superman Returns" and the upcoming Brandon Routh starrer "Dead of Night," which is based on the popular Italian title "Dylan Dog." This material is definitely in my strike zone in more ways than one," Adler said, noting his prior role as a producer of such horror projects as the "Tales From the Crypt" series. "But what really appealed to me wasn't so much the genre trappings but rather the characters that really drive this story." Set during WWII, story revolves around an infectious mist unleashed on a military base that transforms its victims into preternatural creatures of the night. But when the survivors try to kill them, they adapt and change into something even more horrific and unstoppable. Studio 407's Alex Leung will also serve as a producer on "Night and Fog." Adler and McCarthy are also teaming to produce an adaptation of "Havana Nocturne" along with Eric Eisner. They also recently optioned Ken Bruen's crime thriller "Tower." "Night and Fog" is available in comic shops in the single-issue format and digitally on iPhone through Comixology.

WRITER’S GUIDE 2004 Season 3 Created for Television by Michael Piller & Shawn Piller Based on characters from the Stephen King novel Copyright © 2004 Lions Gate Television. All rights reserved. No portion of this document may be performed, published, sold or distributed by any means, or quoted or published in any medium, including on any web site, without prior written consent. Disposal of this script copy does not alter any of the restrictions set forth above. WRITER’S GUIDE 2004 Season 3 INTRODUCTION A few to-dos before you come in to pitch. 1. Watch the pilot. 2. Read the book by Stephen King. 3. Watch the episode “Destiny”, our first season cliffhanger. 4. Watch Frank Capra’s Meet John Doe. 5. Watch Martin Scorsese’s The Last Temptation of Christ. Some don’ts: 1. Although Johnny should help someone in most every story, we don’t want this to become “Touched by an Angel”. We must find interesting, unique and fresh ways to tell stories. No preaching please. Find the unexpected twist. 2. Don’t pitch story arcs that run multiple episodes. What we need from you are self-contained stories. 3.
