Nine Charming Updated Retro-style 1940’s Cottages and a meticulously maintained 1890s Victorian Home. ® Presented by Michael Travis l REALTOR Serving the Lakes Region NH • Direct: 603.303.2599 • Office: 800.450.7784 www.WolfeboroBusiness.com • www.WaterfrontAgent.com Wolfeboro is known as “America’s Oldest Summer Resort.” It has become one of America’s sought after year round destinations because of its close proximity to all the New England states. New York, Con- necticut, Rhode Island and Massachu- setts are big draws. It represents a town that has every- thing a person or family would call “the good life” with an abundance of healthy activities, natural beauty and small town charm with big town amenities. In 1769, Governor Wentworth of England had a private road engineered through what was truly a wild wilderness from the new coastal town of Portsmouth NH to this specific area to spend his slumbering summers here. Just making the trek was enough to need a rest. Since then, generations have followed. As a result, Wolfeboro became known as “America’s Oldest Summer Resort”. The Cottages of Wolfeboro is a local treasure, a nationally Award winning and Internationally acclaimed destination comprised of 9 Charming updated Retro-style 1940’s Cottages and a meticulously maintained 18 person 1890s Victorian House known as the Cottage Caretakers Quarters, as it was owned by the son of the Historic Wolfeboro Falls Mill. This holiday park is conveniently tucked into the only private woodlands in downtown Wolfeboro, a short walk to town and Lake Winnipesaukee. Now you can Invest in little bit of Wolfeboro’s history, a town built on the shores of 44,000 acre Lake Win- nipesaukee. In 1938, The Cottages of Wolfeboro began its historical cabin rental history of this great town as a place to relax from the stresses of everyday life at a time when just driving here was an adventure, and slightly dangerous. The roads of course are all modern and travel to and around all of New Hampshire a pleasure. The town center on Historic Wolfeboro Bay is just a 5-minute walk away, complete with quaint boutique shops, restaurants, ice-cream parlors, pubs, cruises, and shows. Patrons have enjoyed Retro 40’s classic Cottages and The Cottage Caretakers Quarters Victorian Home for an intimate getaway or add friends and family up to 75 people. It is a perfect destination for small family or wedding gatherings. It was fully booked even during the challenges of a Pandemic. Weary city dwellers could escape hot urban summers and call a little piece of the country in the Oldest Summer Resort in America. Couples and families played Horseshoes and tossed balls under tall trees, enjoyed lake pleasures, entertainments, and shopping in the village, and returned to their cottages for socializing and well-earned sleep at night. Wendy and I became the proud owners of The Cottages in the fall of 2008. Longtime residents in the area, we knew that under the worn exterior was the jewel we remembered. The Berry Cottages were opened around 1946 to welcome returning GIs and their families for inexpensive and active vacations. The individual cottages offered privacy, space for socializing and active children, and kitchen facilities to control dining expenses. Their location encouraged guests to explore and enjoy outdoor and downtown activities. As chain motels became the norm in the late 1970’s, many similar communities died out, but luckily, the Cottages survived. Wendy and I discovered sound foundations and good construction. The original cottages’ assets remain - privacy, space, and kitchen facilities. Quite honestly, the location has only gotten better. We had a ton of fun updating, painting and redecorating. FRESH & CLEAN the moment you step over the threshold, cheerful colors & patterns with a retro feel...
