He has now earned 196 assists since joining the Hurricanes in 2012-13, passing Erik Cole (2001-08, 2009-11: 195) for the fifth-most assists in team history (since relocation). Staal has recorded 20 points (8g, 12a) in 21 games this season, which ranks tied for second on the team. His eight goals this season have tied his total through 68 games in 2019-20.

CZECHING IN Martin Necas registered two points (1g, 1a) vs. DET (3/4), marking his fourth multi-point game of the season and his second in three games (3/1 at FLA: 1g, 2a). He has tallied an assist/point in each of his last three games (3/1-3/4: 2g, 4a). Necas has now posted 17 points (4g, 13a) in 2020-21, which is tied with Nick Suzuki for third among players selected in the 2017 NHL Draft behind Elias Pettersson (10-11—18) and Drake Batherson (9-9—18). His 0.85 points per game leads his draft class (min. 20 GP).

RODSPEED Rod Brind’Amour earned his 100th career NHL/Hurricanes win vs. DET (3/4) in just his 173rd game since taking over as head coach in 2018-19. Brind’Amour became the fastest coach in franchise history to reach 100 wins with the Whalers/Hurricanes, needing 19 fewer games than Peter Laviolette (2003-07), and he tied Toe Blake (MTL: 1955-57) for the 12th-fewest games coached to 100 career wins in NHL history. YANDS HITS 1,000 Tonight, Keith Yandle is expected to skate in his 1,000th NHL game, becoming the 12th player in history to play their 1,000th NHL game with the Panthers. The native of Boston, Mass., becomes the 352nd NHL player, 116th defenseman, 52nd U.S.-born player and the 19th U.S.-born defenseman to reach the 1,000 games played milestone. Yandle will be the fifth member of the 2005 NHL Draft class to reach 1,000 games and only the second defenseman to do so. The owner of the third-longest "Ironman" streak in NHL history (889), Yandle has posted three assists over his last two games.

WEATHERING THE STORM FLA has earned points in all three meetings with CAR this season (1-0-2). All three of FLA's games against CAR this season has been completed in overtime. The Panthers earned a 4-3 win in their last meeting at PNC Arena (Feb. 17). Jonathan Huberdeau recorded three points (2-1-3) including the OT game-winner in the contest. Owning the second-most points in franchise history, Barkov ranks second on the Panthers this season in points (26), is tied for first on Florida in assists (18) and even-strength points (16). JONNY ON THE SPOT Jonathan Huberdeau has amassed 12 points (6-6-12) over his last 11 games. He is one goal shy of reaching 10 goals in a season for the sixth time in his seven-season career. Only four defensemen have registered six seasons with at least 10 goals since Ekblad entered the NHL in 2014-15. Quenneville has more than 20 years of NHL head coaching experience with the St. Louis Blues (1996-2004), Colorado Avalanche (2005-2008) and Chicago Blackhawks (2008-2018) organizations. A native of Windsor, Ontario, Quenneville owns the second-most regular season wins as an NHL head coach in NHL history.
