Warrack Eagles Finals Preview 2018

ongratulations to all Warrack Eagles teams on their seasons. It’s time for some finals action. We are heading up the highway to on Sunday to watch our Under 13 netball, C Under 14 football, B Grade and Seniors battle it out to keep their seasons on song in the Elimination Final. Whilst, finishing on top of the ladder, A Grade will have the week off, before trying to cement their Grand Final spot the following week. Here are some thoughts from the coaches...

Senior Football

FINISHED: 5TH. PLAY: ELIMINATION FINAL, SUNDAY SEPT 2ND V HORSHAM SAINTS @NHILL

The Football League has been very even this year, so it has been hard at times to gauge how we were travelling for most of the year. We have won matches we needed to win and have made the finals, finishing 5th. Only two teams (Demons and Giants) we have failed to have a victory over but I believe anyone in the top 5 can win it. If we play our best football consistently through the finals, we are a good chance. Good luck to all our teams in the finals. Go Eagles!

A Grade Netball

FINISHED: 1ST. PLAY: WEEK OFF

The A Grade Netball side has managed to finish the season as ‘minor premiers’ on top of the home and away ladder. We believe this is the first time for a Warrack Eagles/Warracknabeal side in the history of A Grade netball in the WNA. It’s exciting for the girls but, also, the hard work is about to start. We get a bye in the first week of finals and will await the results from the Qualifying final between Horsham Demons and Murtoa on Saturday. Our win/loss record against both sides is 1:1, losing to both teams by only 2 goals. The Elimination Final on Sunday will be between Ararat v Horsham Saints. All 10 players in the A squad are fit and eager to go. Our games throughout the finals will be played at 3.30pm. We wish all teams in finals all the very best!

Go Eagles!

B Grade Netball

FINISHED: 4TH. PLAY: ELIMINATION FINAL, SUNDAY SEPT 2ND V STAWELL @NHILL

Wowee!! What a fantastic year we have had so far!! And we are getting ready to build on that this weekend.

To say the B Grade Comp has been tight this year is an understatement. Our biggest losing margin for the season was 3 goals. We finished equal 2nd on points but due to the tight competition, our percentage has seen us slip down to 4th and playing in the Elimination Final this weekend. We love a challenge and will make sure we don’t leave anything on the court win, lose or draw.

We have had an up and down season with injuries and girls away but we managed to finish with 12 wins and 4 losses. This result was only possible with the help of our junior girls, Kiarna, Casey and Brooke who have stepped up when needed. Thanks girls. We appreciate your efforts and have love having you as part of our team!!

We go into our Elimination Final on Sunday against Stawell with a full line up - Rikki, Clough, Court, Taylah, Jamielee, Maddison, Sarah, Megan, Kiarna, Casey and Brooke. We have recorded a loss and a win against them so far this season. We know our girls have the win in them and look forward to a tight, close (not too close though), competitive game. As coaches we have watched our girls push it that little bit further every week and we know this week will be no different. We wish the Under 13 Netball, Under 14 Football and Senior Football all the best for Sunday. 4 wins would be super!!

A BIG congrats and good luck to the A Grade girls for finishing in top spot and starting their finals campaign next weekend!! Also, a congrats to Nicola Clyne on coming Runner Up in the Under 13’s League count. Massive achievement!

Under 14 Football

FINISHED: 4TH. PLAY: ELIMINATION FINAL, SUNDAY SEPT 2ND V @NHILL

The 2018 season for the under 14’s has, so far, been successful with the boys winning more games than losing. After finishing 4th after the regular season, the boys (and their coaches) are full of confidence going into the finals. We have proved that we can match it with the other sides in the five and on our day, we can be the best team in the competition. There have been few passengers from week to week and the boys work well together as a team. If we take this attitude into each game it will, hopefully, take us deep into finals action. With the League vote count held on Monday night we had Dylan Watts and Noah Butuyuyu finish in the top 10! With Dylan being in touch of the top 3 right up until the last round! Great effort lads! Good luck to all other footy and netball sides participating in the finals this year. Go Eagles!

Tim Bell & Aaron Watts – Under 14 Coaches

Under 13 Netball

FINISHED: 4TH. PLAY: ELIMINATION FINAL, SUNDAY SEPT 2ND V ARARAT @NHILL

We are finals bound! A lot can happen in a year. Winless in 2017 to finishing 4th is a great reward for our large, energetic group of Under 13 netballers. Hard work will always pay off, and that’s exactly what has been happening at training. The girls have taken their intensity to the next level, their skills, footwork and contesting in practice is always displayed on a Saturday. They are eager to learn, and are quickly learning that they can compete with the top sides, allowing them to create whatever results they wish from within. Their team goal was to play finals in 2018, and that they will. What’s to come next? We can’t wait to see them at work on Sunday! We will face Ararat, whom we hold a one all record with, but we take confidence and momentum into the match which is important this time of year.

A special mention must go to our own GA, Nicola Clyne, for being awarded Wimmera Netball Association Under 13 Runners Up (by one vote) in the League vote count on Monday night. We had a large group of our girl’s also, poll votes, which shows how evenly spread they are and how far they have come along.

We would sincerely like to thank everyone who has passed on their wishes to the girls, and of course to our Team Manager/ PC Jessie Koschitzke, Netball Director Jess Kelly, President Adrian
