BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION David Robert Horton was born in 1945 in Perth Western Australia and completed his secondary schooling at the John Curtin High School, WA before commencing a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Zoology, at the University of Western Australia in 1962. David Horton graduated with Zoology Honours in 1965. David Horton continued his education at: University of Melbourne, Masters of Science, Zoology, graduating in 1967 University of New England, Armidale, NSW, Bachelor of Arts, Master of Science, Doctor of Philosophy, and a Doctor of Letters, in Zoology, Archaeology and English, graduating in 1973 University of York, Post-Doctoral Fellow, studying Biogeography, graduating in 1974 David Horton’s career included research into scincid lizards and biogeography (1966-1974), Archaeozoology (sites from Cape York to SW Tasmania), Pleistocene extinctions, the role of fire in Australian ecosystems, and Pleistocene occupation of Australia (1974-1984). 5 MS 5086 David Horton David Horton’s career at the AIAS (Australian Institute of Aboriginal Studies) and AIATSIS (Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies) began in 1974 when he was the Institute’s osteologist, taking on the role of Palaeoecologist in 1975. He became acting Deputy Principal in 1984 and became Manager of the Publications section in 1984-85, until he became Director of Publications in 1988-89. David Horton was the Director of the Aboriginal Studies Press from 1989 until
