ADVERT NAME: Lesley Creek ARTWORK CREATED: 04/ 12/ 13 READ BY Britain’s Got Magic ritain’s Got Talent runner up, Jamie Raven, wowed millions on the popular ITV talent show. Following his success, Bthe magician has dedicated his time to inspiring others to become involved in the world of magic. Having narrowly missed out on being the Britain’s Got Talent 2015 winner, by only two per cent of votes, Jamie went on to tour with The Illusionists as well as performing live at the Magic Circle. The 32-year-old spoke to Vision about his journey. Jamie’s interest was sparked on holiday in India at the age of 10 when he was shown magic tricks after dinner. Little did he know that 10 years later he would be performing magic himself for a living. Jamie told Vision: “I studied economics at university, then I made friends with some event planners and I’d perform magic at their parties. I loved it because I’d get paid to have a laugh.” When series nine of Britain’s Got Talent came along, Jamie took the chance to raise his profile, being told by Simon Cowell, “I now believe in magic.” Keen to inspire youngsters to try their hand at live magic, Jamie explained: “Social media is amazing if a kid sees it and is inspired to try it themselves. But I worry live magic could suffer if kids think the only aim is to get views. It would be a tragedy if there weren’t live shows any more in 30 years.” Keen to show the beauty of magic to aspiring young magicians, Jamie said: “I make mistakes all the time, but that’s where the practice comes in. If you’re going to commit to something, it will take time but don’t get disheartened because it always gets easier. Nobody can be better at being you, so take all your favourite qualities from those you admire and make it your own, developing your own style.” Having toured for 12 years, Jamie continues his journey, currently on tour with another lined up for February 2017. He said: “The shows are suitable for the whole family. There are different genres of magic like close-ups and bigger scale illusions, with a lot of audience participation and two hours of me trying to make you laugh and think.” Photo Credit: GettyImages Photo Credit: V26 ViSIOnStanmoreEdgware edition 7 | to advertise call 01442 254894 ViSIOnStanmoreEdgware edition 7 | to advertise call 01442 254894 V27 DiscoG Coding Academy HEALTH&HARMONY OSTEOPATHY & COMPLEMENTARY THERAPY CLINIC Teaching children to code Our skilledHEALTH and experienced& therapistsHARMONY can provide Young Coders Junior Coders the right OSTEOPATHY treatment & for COMPLEMENTARY you and get you THERAPY back to your CLINIC optimal health Advanced Coders Casual Coders Our skilled and experienced therapists can provide the right Holiday Coders treatment for you and get you back to your optimal health Carl Hiskey is our Whether you’re a child, a student studying GCSE or sports therapist Rupal Pankhania A-level Computer Science, or an adult eager to learn who treats various (B.
