Lager: Beer brewed with bottom-fermenting yeast at cool temperatures. are generally crisper than Ale. The word “Lager” means to store.

Wheat:Wheat beers will be low in hops, have up to 60% wheat in the mash, and use an ale-type yeast.

Pale Ale: Of the British origin, this style is popular worldwide and the use of local ingredients, or imported, produces variance in character from region to region. Generally, expect a good balance of malt and hops.

IPA: The American IPA is a different soul from the reincarnated IPA style. More flavorful than the withering English IPA, color can range from very pale golden to reddish amber. Hops are typically American with a big herbal and/ or citric character, bitterness is high as well.

Porter: Dark brown to black in color, full bodied, malty, but not overly sweet. At one time, this type of ale was the most popular in England. These are dark, almost black brews that have less body and more fruitiness than their cousin, the stout.

Stout: Similar to a porter, stouts are generally darker, richer, and stronger. Stouts have a pronounced hop bite to accompany it’s bitter after taste. Irish Stouts are dry by nature while English stouts are lighter and sweeter.

Trappist Ale: Trappist ales must be brewed within the walls of a Trappist Abbey, by or under control of Trappist Monks. The economic purpose of the brewery must be directed towards assistance and not towards financial profit.
