‟s first cow sanctuary Kamdhenu Gau Abhyaranya in to be privatised o India’s first cow sanctuary Kamdhenu Gau Abhyaranya in Agar , Madya Pradesh (set up in September 2017) will be privatised due to financial crises. o Non Government Organisation (NGO) Akshaypatra has showed interest to look into the issues of poor management & regular deaths of cow in the sanctuary and manage it at no profit no loss basis. o Kamdhenu Gau Abhyaranya . It was developed by the MP Gau Samvardhan Board by spending about Rs 32 crore . Around 4,000 cows are living in the sanctuary spread across 472 hectares and in 2018, more than 600 cows had died due to extreme weather conditions.

 Madhya Pradesh will soon be able to produce its own seeds o The Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Seed Federation will produce its own seeds in addition with distribution and marketing of certified and high-quality seeds to farmers. o The brand name of seeds to be ‘Sah-Beej’ produced from next Rabi season. o The decision was taken in a meeting Board of Directors’ held under the chairmanship of Govind Singh, Minister for Cooperatives in , Madhya Pradesh. o Seed societies in the state are linked with seed federation and will help in the marketing of seeds. o Training will also be given to members of seed societies through agriculture science centres to make them competent and empowered.

 Madhya Pradesh got its First International Flight with Air India‟s Service from -Dubai o On July 15, 2019, Madhya Pradesh got its First International Flight with the launch of a flight service to Dubai from the Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar International Airport, Indore with a national carrier Air India (Flight AI 903) with 150 passengers. o It was flagged off by Air India Chairman Ashwani Lohani along with local Parliamentarian Shankar Lalwani in the presence of former Speaker Sumitra Mahajan. o Air India is operating aircraft which will fly three times a week – Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from Indore to Dubai.

 National Sample Survey of India (NSSO) released periodic labour force survey. As per this survey Indore has the lowest unemployment rate in the state of M.P. The survey included 45 cities. M.P‟s 3 cities Indore, Bhopal and Gwalior got 7th,13th and 14th rank respectively.

 Madhya Pradesh Cabinet passed resolution to increase reservation for OBCs from 14% to 27%. On June 3, 2019, The cabinet of Madhya Pradesh (MP) state Government passed the resolution to increase the reservation quota for OBC (Other Backward Class) from the current 14 per cent to 27 Per cent. The resolution will be taken in the monsoon session of the state assembly.

Mumtaz's body was placed in a tomb in a special coffin in Pine Bagh near Ahukhana. The body was kept here for six months in the tomb.  Key Points: o The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) had sent a proposal to UNESCO to include the architectural heritage of Orchha town in its list of World Heritage Sites on April 15, 2019. o For a historical site to be a part of UNESCO’s World Heritage sites, it must be first included in the tentative list. Once included another proposal is sent to UNESCO, only then the site is included in the UNESCO’s World Heritage sites.  About Orchha o Orchha is located in of Madhya Pradesh on the bank of Betwa River. o It was built by King Rudra Pratap Singh of Bundela dynasty in the 16th century. o Orchha is also famous for its two elevated minaret called Saavan and Bhadon. o The town has four palaces — Jahangir Palace, Raj Mahal, Sheesh Mahal and Rai Praveen Mahal. o The Bundela architecture has Mughal influence since the two dynasties were very close. o Orchha is also the only place in India where Lord Ram is worshipped as a king with a dedicated temple in his name called Sri Ram Raja Mandir. o About UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites List:  UNESCO inaugurated the list by adopting a treaty known as ‘The World Heritage Convention’ in 1972. o It aims is to identify and protect the world’s natural and cultural heritage. The list of World Heritage Sites is maintained by the ‘World Heritage Programme’, administered by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee. o At present, there are 37 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in India (1 mixed, 7 Natural and 29 Cultural).

 India‟s first diamond museum in Khajuraho o The government is going to build the country's first diamond museum in Khajuraho of Chhattarpur district. o In this museum, 323 carat diamonds will be kept, which were extracted by Australian diamond company Rio Tinto from mines in . o The museum will also have diamond auction centre, where diamonds from Panna mines will be auctioned.

 MHA (the Union Ministry of Home Affairs) gives approval for renaming „Durjanpur‟ in MP as „Shivdham‟ o The Central Government has given its approval for the proposal of the Madhya Pradesh State Government, to change the name of a village in Madhya Pradesh from ‘Durjanpur‘ to ‘Shivdham’. Durjanpur is situated in of Madhya Pradesh. o The Home Ministry’s approval came after a no objection notice from the Geographical Survey of India (GSI), the Department of Post, the Ministry of Railways and the Ministry of Earth Sciences.

 Madhya Pradesh to increase the OBC quota and implement EWS o The government of Madhya Pradesh has announced the increase of the reservation quotas for the OBCs and has stated that it would also implement 10 per cent quota for the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) under the general category. o The government has proposed to increase the reservation for OBCs from the current 14% to 27%. Madhya Pradesh already has 36% reservation for scheduled castes and tribes. The increase in the reservation for OBCs and 10% reservation for EWS will take the reservation in the state to 73%. o Legal Challenges o Since the reservations, breaches the 50 per cent cap set by the Supreme Court in the Indra Sawhney case judgement, the proposed reservation module is said to be legally untenable. o Even though states like Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh have reservations breaching the cap of 50% they were implemented well before the Indra Sawhney case judgement. Earlier states like Rajasthan and Maharashtra had announced reservations exceeding 50 per cent but they couldn’t implement it. o Even the 10 per cent quota for EWS proposed by the Central government already questioned in Supreme Court, the decision of the Madhya Pradesh government is bound to face legal challenges.

 Centre for Disability Sports to come up at Gwalior o The Union Cabinet has approved the proposal for setting up of a Centre for Disability Sports at Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh. The Centre for Disability Sports, Gwalior will be set up at an estimated cost f Rs 170.99 crore, spread over a period of 5 years. o Centre for Disability Sports o The Centre of Disability Sports would be registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. o The centre would create an improved sports infrastructure to ensure effective participation of persons with disabilities in sports activities and also enable them to compete at national and international levels. o The centre would aid in developing a sense of belonging in Divyangjan to facilitate their integration in society. o A governing body consisting of not exceeding 12 members would be set up for overall superintendence and supervision of the Centre with representation for experts from National Level Sports Federations apart from experts in para games.

 Global Multidimensional Poverty Index 2018 o India’s poverty rate has shown a drastic decrease in 10 years, from 55% to 28% in accordance with the 2018 global Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI).

 Madhya Pradesh Government launched 100-day employment scheme for youths o Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath launched the State Government’s flagship scheme ‘Mukhyamantri Yuva Swabhiman Yojana’ that guarantees 100 days of employment every year to urban youth from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). a) Under the scheme, Rs 4,000 stipend per month during 100 days of period, would be given to the youth and they will also be given skill development training in order to become independent. b) Each youth enrolled under the scheme will get total Rs 13,500 for the 100 days period. c) Only those youths, whose family’s annual income is less than Rs 2 lakh and who are in the age group of 21-30 years, are eligible for the scheme.

 2 new NIDs inaugurated at Bhopal and Jorhat by Suresh Prabhu o National Institutes of Design (NID) at Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh and Jorhat in Assam were inaugurated by Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation. a) They are autonomous institutions and under the Department for Promotion of Industry and International Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry. b) NID Jorhat (Assam) is the first Design Institution at the national level in the North Eastern Region of India. c) The recommendation for setting up design institutes, was given by National Design Policy (2007). d) 4 new NIDs have been set up in Andhra Pradesh (Amaravati), Assam (Jorhat), Madhya Pradesh (Bhopal) and Haryana (Kurukshetra) with a total outlay of Rs. 434 crore.

 Railways win Senior National Men‟s Hockey Title by defeating Punjab o The Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) won the 9th Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2019 (A Div), defeating Punjab by 3-2 at Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.

 Union Home Minister launched ITSSO and Safe City Implementation Monitoring Portal for women safety o Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi launched a range of citizen safety initiatives in New Delhi. o It includes the Emergency Response Support System, ERSS, for women safety in 16 states and Union territories. o The states include Andhra Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Jammu and Kashmir. The service has already been launched in and Nagaland. o Persons in distress can dial a pan-India number: 112. o Under this system, all the states have to set up a dedicated Emergency Response Centre, ERC. o The ERCs are connected to District Command Centres and the Emergency Response Vehicles, and assistance to victims is facilitated through them. o The Home Minister also launched two portals - Investigation Tracking System for Sexual Offences and Safe City Implementation Monitoring Portal.

 Buddhist Tourism Circuit o Union Ministry of Tourism has sanctioned five new projects under the Buddhist Circuit. o The five states where the project under Buddhist Circuit has been sanctioned are Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh. o The Buddhist Circuit is one among the fifteen thematic circuits identified for development under Swadesh Darshan Scheme.  Madhya Pradesh launched employment scheme “Yuva Swabhiman Yojana” for urban youth o On January 26,2019, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath launched ‘Yuva Swabhiman Yojana’ for youths of the weak section in urban areas of Madhya Pradesh. About the scheme: o The scheme was launched in Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh . It aims to provide employment to the youth belonging to the weaker section of the society mainly in urban areas of the state. . Under this scheme, 100 days of employment will be provided. . Registration of interested urban poor youth under this scheme started on February 10,2019. . Apart from this 100 days employment, they will also be given skill training by the government. .  Madhya Pradesh government to create an Adhyatmik Vibhag (Spiritual Department) o The Congress-led Madhya Pradesh Government announced that it is going to create an Adhyatmik Vibhag (spiritual department) by merging several existing department. The Congress had promised to form such a department before the last month’s Assembly elections. o The proposed Adhyatmik Vibhag (Spiritual Department) going to be formed by merging Dharmik Nyas Evam Dharmasv Department (Religious Trust and Endowment Department), Anand Vibhag (Happiness Department) in addition to the Directorate of Religious Trust and Endowment, Madhya Pradesh Teerth Evam Mela Pradhikaran and Rajya Anand Sansthan. Madhya Pradesh had become the first state in the country to create Happiness Department.

 Purchase of new vehicles, ACs banned for government departments: Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath o Chief Minister of the Congress led government of Madhya Pradesh, Kamal Nath, banned the purchase of new vehicles and air conditioners (ACs) by the government departments due to huge debt of the state. o Also, the expenditure incurred on office items has been limited on the basis of the difference between the allocated budget for these expenses in the financial year 2018-19 and the expenditure incurred in the financial year 2017-18. o According to a report of Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) tabled in the Vidhan Sabha in March 2018, Madhya Pradesh is struggling with a huge debt of nearly Rs 1.83 crore.

o On 5th January 2019, the state cabinet decided to waive crop loans of 55 lakh small and marginal farmers in the state. The eligibility cut-off date has been extended to December 12, 2018 from March 31, 2018. o Only those farmers who have not registered themselves to pay GST and income tax can avail benefits under this schemes. o Earlier former Chief Minister Shri. also launched similar scheme named ‘Bhavantar Yojana’.

 Govt launches "Green-Ag", GEF-assisted project o The Government of India launched a GEF assisted project, namely Green– Ag: Transforming Indian agriculture for global environment benefits and the conservation of critical biodiversity and forest landscapes in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). o It was launched in high-conservation-value landscapes of five states, namely Madhya Pradesh (Chambal landscape), Mizoram (Dampa landscape), Odisha (Similipal landscape), Rajasthan (Desert National Park landscape) and Uttarakhand (Corbett-Rajaji landscape) in September 2018. o The project seeks to mainstream biodiversity, climate change, and sustainable land management objectives and practices into Indian agriculture.

 Andhra, Himachal and Madhya Pradesh best performing states under Maternity Benefit Programme PMMVY: MoSWCD On December 21, 2018, Minister of State for the Women and Child Development Virendra Kumar released the performance of states and UTs under the maternity benefit programme named Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana.

1. Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh topped the charts as the best performing states. 2. According to the finding, 51.70 lakh beneficiaries are covered annually under the PMMVY. 3. Grants-in-aid amounting to Rs 2,048.59 crores and Rs 369.31 crores have been sanctioned to the states and the Union Territories during the year 2017-18 and 2018-19 respectively.

 Centre included Gangotri, Yamunotri in Uttarakhand, Amarkantak in MP and Parasnath in Jharkhand under PRASAD Scheme: Tourism Ministry On December 4, 2018, the central government announced inclusion of Gangotri and Yamunotri in Uttrarakhand, Amarkantak in Madhya Pradesh and Parasnath in Jharkhand under the scheme Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASAD). With this, the number of pilgrimage sites under the scheme increased to 41 sites in 25 states. PRASAD scheme: 1. It was launched by the Tourism Ministry in 2014-15. 2. The scheme aimed at the following: a. Infrastructure development (road, rail and water transport), b. last mile connectivity, c. basic tourism facilities like Information/ Interpretation Centers, ATM/ money exchange,\eco-friendly modes of transport among others. 3. A total 24 projects in 15 states have been approved with estimated expenditure of Rs 727.16crore and a total amount of Rs 331.15 crore has been released for these projects under the scheme since its inception till date.
