The nation’s oldest All-America squad was announced this evening on The Home Depot ESPN College Football Awards Show. Third-ranked Florida State had three players selected to the First Team, while top-ranked Alabama, Oregon and Utah all had two honorees. In all, 20 different schools from six conferences were represented on the All-America First Team. The Atlantic Coast Conference, Pac 12, and Southeastern Conference each had six selections. The Walter Camp All-America teams are selected by the head coaches and sports information directors of the 125 Football Bowl Subdivision schools and certified by Marcum LLP, a New Haven- based accounting firm. Walter Camp Football Foundation President James Monico was pleased with the voting participation. “Once again, we had more than 80 percent of the FBS schools participate in this year’s voting,” Monico said. “We are very appreciative of the continuing cooperation of the coaches and sports information directors in our annual effort to honor the nation’s most outstanding college players.” Leading the offensive unit is Mariota, the 2014 Walter Camp Player of the Year. The nation’s leader in pass efficiency (186.3), Mariota has thrown for 3,783 yards and 38 touchdowns for the nation’s third-ranked scoring offense (46.3 points per game).

He has a great relationship with Allen, isn’t threatening his job, and brings traits Allen doesn’t have like anticipatory throwing they hope will rub off on him. That leaves Davis Webb, the practice squad QB, as the only one at real risk of competition. The Bills met with Morgan, but this was before his stock significantly heated up. If the Bills decide to challenge Webb look for a UDFA QB to be the guy to do it. Running Back The Buffalo Bills have only two viable runners on their roster currently in Devin Singletary and TJ Yeldon. They will look to add a third to this tandem to replace Players Met With or “Linked-To” the departed Frank Gore. Cam Akers - Florida St. Gore was known as the “bruiser”. When he was on the field defenses tended to JK Dobbins - Ohio St. know what was coming. It appears from their list of potential targets the Bills Clyde Edwards-Hellaire - LSU are looking to buck that trend. Other highly regarded programs Penn St, Texas, Georgia and Nebraska had only 1 player drafted over the seven rounds. Power 5 conferences accounting for over 70% of all picks this year. The lower levels had 21 players chosen over 7 rounds. The highest selected non-FBS player taken this year was Ashland TE Adam Shaheen who was selected 45th overall by the Bears. Villanova DE Tanoh Kpassagnon was taken later in the 2nd round by the Chiefs.
