March 2020 A MISSISSIPPI SUCCESS STORY Cypress Environmental Services, LLC Located in Biloxi, Mississippi, Cypress Environmental Services is owned and operated by Cynthia Henderson. The firm provides a range of environmental science and engineering services including consulting, construction administration, and construction contracting and is a licensed engineering firm in Mississippi, Florida, and Louisiana. In August 2019, the firm received certification as a WOSB from the Women’s Business Enterprise Council South. Cypress excels at innovating on the border between the built environment and the natural environment. Henderson is an environmental engineer and professional wetland scientist with 14 years of experience in various aspects of environmental engineering, ecosystem restoration, environmental remediation, and regulatory compliance. She is an experienced project and grants manager and has completed projects for multiple branches of the United States armed forces as well as municipal and private clients. Experience and hard work have allowed Cypress to work on projects ranging in size from hundreds of thousands of acres to sub-acre sites. Currently, the firm holds a prime contract with MDOT for Wetlands and Waters of the US. Cypress has completed a task order and is nearing a completion of the second task order. These task orders are providing environmental services to support MDOT bridge replacements in central Mississippi. One of the largest contracts awarded to Cypress entailed a multi-year contract mapping and monitoring invasive plant species for the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources. Henderson says owning a successful business means providing well paid technical jobs to bright, young Mississippians with an avenue to stay in the state. Also, it makes room for personal growth to learn how to build the business better, become a better manager, and learn new things every day. As a DBE, Henderson also mentioned the importance of staying aware of project opportunities that are available. “The newsletter distributed by MDOT DBE Supportive Services is invaluable in helping us keep up to date on general contracting activity and specific opportunities of interest,” she said. For all of your environmental service needs contact Cynthia Henderson at 228-596-2708 or [email protected]. You can also visit Cypress website @ www.cypressei.com. March 2020 Pitfalls to Avoid in Your Business By Sherri Davis-Garner President, Styling Your Life Solutions www.stylingyourlife.com 601-896-8900 I operate a small business. Even though my business is small, I’ve taken the time to learn how my business needs to operate efficiently using business principles that big businesses use. You have to style your business, like you style your life. For that reason, I named my business, Styling Your Life Solutions. First Smart Solution: Make sure your business taxes are in order. Don’t wait until the end of the year to organize your taxes. Sit down at the beginning of each year and allow your accountant/COA to educate you on how to organize your business receipts, what is an allowable deductible expenditure and the system you should use to organize your expenditures. There are computer aps which capture your mileage, as well as other business expenses. Second Smart Solution: Cheaper is not always better.

MISSISSIPPI RADIOLOGICAL EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PLAN 2020 MREPP Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, Office of Response and Radiological Emergency Preparedness October 2020 2020 MREPP This page left blank intentionally. ii 01 October 2020 2020 MREPP Promulgation Statement Transmitted herewith is the revised Mississippi Radiological Emergency Preparedness Plan (MREPP). This plan supersedes all previous plans and may not be reproduced without prior authorization. It provides a framework for structuring and planning State and Local Civil Defense/Emergency Management offsite emergency response to radiological emergencies. Inherent in the issuance of this plan, as an integral part of the Mississippi Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan, is recognition of the interrelationship between radiological emergency preparedness planning and other emergency planning. The State's overall emergency planning effort is based on the premise that similarities among the various emergencies, which threaten the public, require maximum standardization of procedures and practices to the extent possible. The State also recognizes the dynamics associated with planning and, consequently, plan upgrading will be accomplished at least annually, and in the ultimate will be a continuing process with the objective of protection of the people from personal injury or loss of life and mitigation of damage or loss of property resulting from radiological emergencies. By virtue of the authority vested in me, by the Constitution of Mississippi and Title 33, Chapter 15, Mississippi Code of 1972, as amended, I hereby promulgate and issue the MREPP as the official guidance of all concerned. It is in the opinion of the State, the plans/procedures are adequate to protect the health and safety of its citizens by providing reasonable assurance that state, local, and tribal governments can and intend to effect appropriate protective measures offsite in the event of a radiological emergency (44 CFR 350.7(d)).

COUNTY GOVERNMENT LEGAL DIGEST OFFICE OF THE STATE AUDITOR PHIL BRYANT Auditor Office of the State Auditor Division of Technical Assistance DIGEST OF PARTS OF MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972 AFFECTING COUNTY AFFAIRS October, 2002 INTRODUCTION The Office of the State Auditor, Division of Technical Assistance, is pleased to present the Digest of Parts of Mississippi Code of 1972 Affecting County Affairs, also referred to as the County Government Legal Digest, revised through the 2002 regular session of the Mississippi Legislature. This publication provides a convenient reference guide to the Mississippi Code for those having responsibility at the county government level. It directs the user to pertinent code sections and presents them in full length or summary form, or directs the user to the relevant section of the Mississippi Code. However, persons wishing to research legal questions in detail should refer directly to the Mississippi Code. The Digest is published as a service of the Office of the State Auditor. First used only within the Office, the publication has evolved into a dependable code reference source for county officials, county attorneys and others who hold county government level responsibility. The Digest is organized by Code Title and Chapter. Some Chapters are listed only by reference number, but most are summarized, and some contain editorial remarks (shown in brackets). An index aligning subjects with code sections follows the text. The index is a particularly valuable research tool, and contains some references to code sections not included in the text. Questions or suggestions regarding this publication should be directed to the Division of Technical Assistance at 1-800-321-1275.
