WHAT’S NEW Grilla ver. 6.1 www.tromino.it WHAT’S NEW IN Grilla 6.1

Grilla 6.1 has been released on Jan . 10 2010. The major changes compared to the Grilla 5.# series are listed below. 1

Please note that not all the suggestions provided by the 6.0 beta testers have been implemented yet. More changes are coming with Grilla 6.2.

indicates changes affecting mostly structural analysis

indicates changes affecting mostly subsoil analysis

indicates changes affecting the data download procedures and other firmware issues

DATA DOWNLOAD

Data acquired in compressed mode (3 HIGH GAIN + [3 LOW GAIN] channels + GPS/radio marker) can now be downloaded.

Data acquired in FREE mode (loop allowed) can now be downl oaded.

GRAPHIC INTERFACE The graphic interface has been redesigned.

LANGUAGE The H/V automatic report can now be obtained in Italian. To switch language from English to Italian, select ? >> Italiano from the Grilla database toolbar.

SPECTRAL ANALYSIS

The amplitude/power spectra of all channels (e.g. in a multichannel survey) can be obtained by enabling the Spectral analysis on all channels function in the Analysis settings form ( Figure 1).

VIBRATION MODULE

Some bugs have been fixed (positive/negative thresholds, long files management) .

MODAL ANALYSIS (Reference site)

The modal shapes of buildings (first flexural mode , Figure 2, right ) can now be seen by clicking the corresponding frequency in the reference site form (Figure 2, left).

Figure 2. To view the modal shape (right panel) click and move the mouse on the desired frequency on the left panel.

SUBSOIL MODELING

The theoretical H/V curve can now be computed starting from a user’s defined dep th. In this way the user can see the expected H/V curve at the foundation level. To access this function select Synthetic model >> Settings from the Subsoil Model form and s et the desired foundation level.

Figure 3. To plot the theoretical H/V curve from the ground level and from the expected foundation level, set the desired foundation depth in the Synthetic model >> Settings form.

PASSIVE 2D ARRAYS (ESAC/SPAC)

The 2D multichannel passive analysis (Extended Spatial Autocorrelation method, ESAC) has been implemented. This produces a dispersion curve represented by the yellow circles in Figure 4.

ROLL ALONG (for multichannel acquisitions)

To merge several multichannel acquisitions in a single file, select the single files to import - one by one and in the correct geometrical order of acquisition - with the Roll along function ( Figure 5). Should you need to reverse the origin in any of the single file, select the Reverse origin box before entering the name of the file to import.
