These matters relate to applications for certification of proposed agreements for the Department of Education, State Government Entities and Stadiums Queensland. These matters relate to bargaining in the Queensland public sector. In accordance with section 533(1)(a) of the Industrial Relations Act 2016, I give notice that I am intervening in these matters. The purpose of my intervention is to seek an adjournment of the proceedings with a view to a further listing of these matters on, or after, 22 June 2020. The Queensland Government is currently considering its economic and fiscal response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which impact upon a number of industrial relations matters for Queensland’s public sector. These are unprecedented circumstances and I seek the adjournments based on these considerations and their implementation within the Queensland public sector. These matters are currently the subject of Cabinet deliberations and are Cabinet in confidence. However, I note the Honourable Cameron Dick MP, Treasurer and Minister for Infrastructure and Planning, informed Queensland Parliament during its sitting on Wednesday, 20 May 2020 that the Government is committed to implementing a public sector wage increase freeze in the 2020–21 financial year. Adjourning these matters will allow these deliberations to be concluded and for the Government to apprise the Commission and parties on how the outcome of these deliberations may impact proposed certified agreements in the public sector. On this basis, it is submitted that there is utility in allowing an adjournment for a short amount of time before the hearing of these matters. By way of background, the trac issues around the Lambert Rd precinct in Indooroopilly are a long-standing concern for local residents. The pressure added around school drop o and pick up times is enormous in this part of the neighbourhood. The precinct currently hosts more than 5,000 students at Indooroopilly State High (ISHS), St Peter Lutheran College (St Peters), Brigidine College and Holy Family Primary School. Some but not all of those students currently catch public transport, walk or cycle to school, and we don’t at this stage have a clear picture of the relevant transport mode share at all of the schools. The State Government’s recent proposal to build a new primary school on the grounds of Indooroopilly State High School has highlighted the extent of residents’ concerns about the trac issues, and the negative impact it’s having on their lives and ability to move around their neighbourhood. During the consultation process for the school, hundreds of residents made submissions, and contacted me and the Education Minister to oppose this proposed location for another school, primarily because of the signiﬁcant trac issues the precinct is already facing.

BUSY SCHOOLS NEWS Term 2, Week 6 May 28 2021 Dear Parents, Mock Interviews Parliament House Visit We have now completed half of term 2, with only 4 weeks remaining of semester 1. This means that your child has only 3 semesters left before Work Experience Update they will be completing Year 12. All of our students are working towards their QCE and they will hopefully gain 3 credit points for semester 1. The QCE is Queensland’s senior schooling qualification. It is internationally recognized and a sign of academic and personal success. To receive a QCE, students must achieve 20 credits of learning, at the set standard, in a set pattern, while meeting numeracy requirements. The school is working with each student to track their progress to help them achieve the QCE. Once again I must reiterate the importance of students attending school so they can stay up to date with all learning and assessment. This will help students to achieve their QCE and successfully graduate from Year 12. Attending school also prepares students for the workforce by demonstrating they are punctual and reliable.
