The Department of Public Health has two syndromic surveillance systems that track respiratory illness across the state. The hospital syndromic surveillance system receives near real-time information about emergency department (ED) visits from all 38 licensed, hospital EDs in Connecticut. ILI-Net receives the percentage of patient visits with influenza-like illness (ILI) from a network of outpatient healthcare providers. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, both syndromic surveillance systems suggest that more people be seeking care for respiratory illness than usual at this time. For more information, please see the Weekly Influenza Update.
