School

Message from The Editor, Miss Barker Key Dates for the Summer Term: Week B Monday 31st May - On Friday 14th May Councillor Prad Bains, Mayor Half Term Holiday Friday 4th June of , visited Warblington School to find out about our school Eco Project. A group of staff and students gave the Mayor a tour around the project which included visiting our newly planted trees from the Woodland Trust, orchard, outdoor classroom and wildlife area. ‘I was delighted to meet some of the brilliant students at Warblington School who took me on a tour of the school's Eco Project. I was humbled by their pro-active approach to the environment, local wildlife and biodiversity. It was clear to see that the school are placing an emphasis on sustainability and highlighting the importance of nature, which forms a key part of the education provided. I was so impressed with the schools vision and the passion the staff and students had for wanting to improve the environment locally, from the connection of hedgerows, the planting of trees and the nuture of an array of species now living on the school site - all of this is incorporated into the learning environment. All of the students were incredibly knowledgeable about every aspect of the project, showing that they are invested in what they are learning, each of them thoroughly deserving their award. This not only gives me hope for the future generations, but offers our local area a real chance to move forward to a greener and more thriving place.’ Cllr Prad Bains A huge well done to Abigayle H, Kayden C, Megan H, Sophie F, Luke S and Dylan G for talking to our Mayor about the school Eco Project. They were confident, passionate and proudly gave a tour filled with interesting facts. They each took it in turns to talk about a different part of the project. Also thank you to Mrs Rason for starting the project and Mrs Devine and other staff members for their continued support and hard work helping make it such a success.

Year 9 Enterprise Day

On Tuesday 18th May our Year 9 students participated in an Enterprise Day where they worked in small groups to create a business idea based around keeping young people fit and active post COVID lockdown. Not only did they need to think of a name for the business but also create a business plan that included finance, marketing and designs for the premises. The students responded really positively to the activity and worked well developing their problem solving, team work and communication skills. The day was presented by Unloc who were very impressed with our students creativity and application to the activity. To conclude the day all fourteen groups presented their ideas to their peers and to a panel of three teaching staff – another challenge which was responded to well to. A huge well done to everyone in Year 9! The winning group was Group 9: Melissa A, Taylor D, Marcus M, Vakare P, Jack S, & Anthony W. Thank you to Unloc for organising the event and to the Warblington staff that support our students. Mrs Fletcher & Mr Gellett, Careers Leaders
