Bei LP muss sich niemand fragen, was sie denkt – Sie sagt es dir einfach. Tatsächlich legt Laura Pergolizzi a.k.a. LP jedes Mal, wenn sie eine Platte aufnimmt, alle ihre Karten auf den Tisch. Das fünfte Album der Singer/Songwriterin – das treffend betitelte „Heart To Mouth“ – darf als ihre bisher direkteste Aussage beschrieben werden. Kein Filter, keine Zensur und kein Bullshit. Sie begann den Weg für diesen Highway 2017 auf „Lost On You“ zu ebnen. Ihr bisher größter Hit, der gleichnamige Titeltrack, wurde mehr als 500 Millionen gestreamt und erreichte Platin in Russland, Polen, Griechenland, der Schweiz, Italien, Frankreich und in vielen weiteren Ländern. Die Gesamtzahlen der Videoviews für „Lost On You“, „Muddy Waters“ und „When We’re High“ gehen innerhalb eines Jahres auf die 300 Millionen zu. Mit hart erarbeitetem Selbstvertrauen und völlig selbstbestimmt, begann LP bereits 2017 Ideen für dieses neue Album zu sammeln und arbeitete Hand in Hand mit Produzent Mike Del Rio, der auch schon für Eminem, X Ambassadors oder Skylar Grey hinter den Reglern saß, und Schriftsteller Nathaniel Campany. „Heart To Mouth“ ist der Sound einer Künstlerin, die sich nicht zurückhalten kann. Stattdessen spricht sie offen über Liebe, Lust, Angst, Unsicherheit, Untreue, Bedauern und Erlösung. Die erste Single „Girls Go Wild“ fungiert direkt als Opener und stellt sie passenderweise als Outlaw vor. Unterdessen unterstreichen die chilligen Piano- Akkorde vom Nachfolger „Recovery“ das Leiden durch eine betrügerische Liebe. Die starken Gefühle und Songs von LP wandeln gekonnt zwischen Pop, Indie und Chanson und überwältigen mit der erwähnten Direktheit jeden. Im Mai kommt LP für zwei exklusive Shows nach Deutschland. Consequentially, while the role of album art has evolved to meet the changes in music technology, it is hard to measure the effect of digital streaming on modern album art. This research seeks to determine whether or not graphic design still plays a role in marketing information about the music, such as its genre, to the consumer. It does so through two studies: 1. A computer visual analysis that measures color dominance of an image, and 2. A mixed-design lab experiment with volunteer participants who attempt to assess the genre of a given album. Findings from the first study show that color scheme models created from album samples cannot be used to predict the genre of an album. Further findings from the second theory show that consumers pay a significant amount of attention to album covers, enough to be able to correctly assess the genre of an album most of the time.
