INTRODUCTION AND INSTRUCTIONS Since a survey form almost identical to the 1974 form was used to produce this publication, those familiar with Iowa Public Library Statistics 1974 should have little difficulty understanding Iowa Library Information 1975. Major changes in this publication are: 1. All charts are divided into size groupings with a letter [A-H) designation. This legend is spelled out on the title page of the Statistics Section. 2. In addition to the information included in Directory I [basic information about each library), we have added the size designation letter so that it is simple to check the desired library by location in Directory I to find its size grouping; that library will always be found in that designated group in all statistical charts. 3. We have added another item to Directory I information: one member of the board of trustees, nominally the president, along with his or her telephone number. If we were unable to identify the president, we have selected another officer and failing that, have selected a member whose term is long enough to be meaningful as a contact to his or her board. 4. County libraries although they may appear in the charts according to the size of their location will always be found by their County name in the H Group in all the charts. 5. Since the advent of "Home Rule" it was difficult for some libraries to include material for Calendar 1975. We have noted, where possible, the period of time covered, if other than Calendar 1975. We appreciate all the cooperation we have had in producing this publication. With your support we have been able to establish a working statistical base for future needs assessments and long-range planning. Barry L.
